Unwanted hair!

If you have animals and brush and groom them don't throw away the hair  - just gather it up and throw it out into your garden then sit back and enjoy watching the birds pick it up and preen it for nesting material.

The birds seem to like Posh's hair after she is groomed, not so keen on Deno's for some reason, must be too coarse.

CD - I thought the same :^O

my friend bought me one of those terracotta apples with holes in that you stuff the bedding material into for the birds, but I don't think they like it:-( it doesn't seem to be disappearing. I've even put the fluff out of the tumble drier in it so they have a choice:^O

Creeky/CD - Ha ha!  Methinks you have disclosed how the mind works with some and not others! ;\

Capt!  greetings Smiley

I thought terra Cotta apples were perceived as safe way of feeding for smaller birds because it is enclosed and they are shrouded from overhead larger predators?  My understanding is that most birds source nesting material at ground level so maybe they are a little disappointed to find "fluff" instead of "grub"? :^O

I didn't think of putting out tumble drier fluff (of which I have that much I could open a pillow stuffing industry) - what a great suggestion!  Thank you!

Our birds seem to be pretty fussy - they do not like tumble dryer remnants at all, it sits there for weeks, getting soggy in the rain.

But, if I put out the rabbit fur, they go mad for it, all flying away with little rabbity-fur moustaches :^O

oh I'll plonk it on the ground then Mitzi....I think they've had a wee bit out of it, as it looks like the stuff that came with the "apple" has been pulled a bit.
