Who was Spike Milligan?? I mean, honestly, there I was, meandering through the used book store in downtown Eugene, where I encountered a book titled "Spike Milligan - Mussolini His Part in My Downfall."
Foolishly, I picked it up and, even more foolishly, opened it to page 33, where I read about him being terribly ill in Italy during World War Two, and the text read (Quote) "For my part, I kept falling into a delirious sleep, where I told General Montgomery to sing "God Bless America" with his trousers down..." (End Quote.)
I am STILL laughing! This one was a genius! How, oh how, did I ever miss this one???

When he died, Spike Milligan's response was priceless: "I'm glad he died before me, because I didn't want him to sing at my funeral"
:^O
Equally priceless...

He sent him a telegram the next day along the lines of "I don't suppose there's a chance of a knighthood"...

Speaking of Spikes part in 'Life of Brian'
He was in Tunisia visiting WWII sites and heard the Pythons were filming not far from where he was, so just went along for a visit.
Too good an opportunity to miss, they quickly wrote a cameo part for their all time hero.
He plays a Prophet, who's believers all leave him to go and follow Brian, much to Spikes characters displeasure who then warns Brian "It will all go wrong, you'll see". If you listen carefully that bit is meant to lead to another scene, which Spike was meant to film the Day before He left to return to the UK after visiting the War sites.
Brian is on the cross and you see a figure slowly approaching from the far distance (something often used by the Pythons in the TV show) but this was meant to be Spike, who then says "I did warn You"
But Spike being Spike totally forgot and went home. When they finally got a hold of Him, He had already started doing something else and couldn't come.

At the end of filming on the day Spike was there, he just drove away in Costume.
As the rest of the cast were on their Bus heading back to their Hotel they had to stop because ...
.. here was Spike all in rags trying to explain to the Tunisian Police, how such a poor person could be driving a big fancy car :^O

Oh! I have a caption for that picture!
Spike is saying, "Well, yes, as a matter of fact I am in inspector in the London Police Department. Yes, yes, they've cut back on our uniform and clothing allowance again this year. How did you know????

HOI, I wanna complain!
All that knocking in the second clip made my dog bark and I had to let him out so he could see there was no-one there!
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.
