Re: The Bishop of Durham/Archbishop of canterbury?.

The clergy have interferred in everything for hundreds of years so they won't stop now?

True, CD, but will their opinions have any influence on voters?.

Re: The Bishop of Durham/Archbishop of canterbury?.

For many, after seeing all the various "opinions", the eyes of the people will probably just glaze over and look elsewhere.

The thing is, they're only "opinions" of someone with one vote trying to influence others. There's more of "The People" so I think more "opinions" of "ordinary" voters should get more promotion as their opinion is just a valid as those with a high-falutin' station in life.

Re: The Bishop of Durham/Archbishop of canterbury?.

The Church is in politics through the House of Lords. Many say they are irrelevant and should not be there but they are for now. I'm sure Imams around the country are making it clear to their obedient flock which way they should vote along with Other faith leaders. It is a national debate and despite the fact that the headline grabbing arguments are not necessarily something created by the EU as in most political debates if it aids the cause you support fine, if it doesn't then it is unfair.

Sure they have the right to express an opinion....just as everyone else has the right to ignore it.

What matters more than what is said is how the media reports it.  Headline or in passing, flagged as significant or deemed background noise, supported sublimely or challenged.

The media create the overall ethos of any campaign by what they select to report on and how they do this.

Of course they are entitled to their opinions, but these should be confined to the pulpit and not splashed across the newspapers. Just because they are clad in the regalia of the church, doesn't make their thoughts and opinions any more valid than the man in the street, who isn't afforded that privilege.

Not that I'm a believer, but doesn't that wonderful religious book; that they hold in such reverence, suggest that they put their own house in order before they criticize others about the state of theirs...........shame these hypocrites never practice what they preach.

Ah brother EVO wildt thou break bread with me over a a bucket of Buckfast before we resolve our differences in a pillow fight balanced on a scaffold board above a pool of Sauce Anglaise, or to natives of this Isle, Custard.

Re: The Bishop of Durham/Archbishop of canterbury?.

Just a little joke my mate, the Arch Bishop of Canterbury, told me last week, while we were having a couple of gin and tonics and doing a couple of lines of cocaine in a brothel he's running in the basement of Canterbury Cathedral.
