I was prompted to ask by this news item:-
Personally I think they're hideous! I don't think a cop should be covered in such a mess.
The only tattoo I've seen that looked "nice" (to me) was on the arm of a female doctor at Broad Green Hospital in Liverpool. She had a couple of..... well.... portraits on her arm in senna and they were so good they looked just like a photo.
Those that are mostly Red and Blue almost look "dirty"...... ugh.
There was a bloke who was often sitting on a bench round the lake drinking White Lightning, then he switched to some other White stuff. He was tattood on all visible "parts". He had no hair and even his face and head was tattood. He might have been "a very nice person" but his appearance was very off putting.
So, over to you. What's your take on the subject?
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

Tattoos....! I don't have any objection to them at all, but I don't really like them on people's faces or hands. Younger people all seem to want them, but they just go and copy what someone else has. One of my granddaughters has tattoos, but she has always designed them herself and they have some relevance to events or people or things that she personally loves. They are absolutely beautiful, and no-one else has the same. She has always been aware that they could affect her employment opportunities, so she doesn't have them where they can't be covered. And she has a very good job in which she has to meet and deal with the Police..all ranks and branches. She is a beautiful soul, and seeing her with these tattoos has taught me a valuable lesson...not to judge people by their appearance.

Oh....and she doesn't bulge out of skinny leggings! If she did I would exercise my authority as a Granny and tell her off!😂😂

Piercings are absolutely gross ! But to each his own.
Tattos ? Hmm, I suppose I can take them or leave them as long as they are not overdone. I don't like to see tatoos on faces and necks though.
I suppose it's everyones right to do what they like with their body. Both my sons have tatoos, but they are fairly discreet.
We have a young friend who has been very good to us for some years - he helps us out with all sorts of household jobs that we can't manage - gardening projects, building, repairs - all the heavy stuff. His whole body apart from his face and neck is covered in tattoos but you couldn't wish to meet a more generous, honest and kind young man. I guess I've learned not to judge a book by it's cover.

I don't think the police should have rejected this young woman. In fact her tattoos may have been an assett when dealing with young people. I think they are more likely to respond to someone who they think is cool than someone they see as a stuffed shirt.
A few years ago on one of the morning telly programms, they had a young woman on as a guest. The camera took a sideways view and started at her feet working it's way upwards. Very high platform shoes, fish net stockings, micro mini skirt, crop top, long jet black dyed hair down to her waist , and when she turned her head, heavy make up and............. a dog collar. She said the number of young people who had attended her church and joined her groups had trebled in the year she had been there. It did seem odd for a vicar but I thought , hey why not.

If I needed help then I couldn’t care less how many tattoos piercings or whatever the person or persons coming to my assistance had.
On the other hand if I were approached by someone with visible tattoos then I may well feel intimidated.
Tattoos and piercings demonstrate a desire to be ‘different’, (rebellious if you like). One of the purposes of wearing a uniform is to present a ‘standard’, (uniform), member of an organisation - the contrast between a uniform and a visible tattoo produces a dichotomy that subconsciously disturbs many people whether justified or not.
When I was in hospital a while ago a nurse with full ‘sleeve’ tattoos on both arms came to take some blood samples - initially I didn’t feel as comfortable with him doing this as I had been with the other nurses. There was absolutely no justification for this feeling and once I’d got over the initial unease all was fine and he turned out to be everything you’d expect from a nurse.
In summary tattoos and piercings shouldn’t make a difference in how we perceive an individual but in reality, at least in my case, they do.

Easily visible Tats are Hideous abominations
and of course the Copper should cover them up,
as should anyone who works directly with the public.
It is going to be hilarious when these people reach sagging upper Middle age
Especially the full arm Tats, that even when new make your arms look dirty
