Sports personality of the year.

Won by Andy Murray.

Not for me, my choice would be Tony Mccoy 4000 winners, don't think that will ever be achieved again.

What do you think?

Re: Sports personality of the year.

Don't you think this Sport's Personality of the Year is all a bit of a farce? I mean, just think about it. There's last year's winner pulling names out of envelope like it's all a surprise. The winner is in Florida and, just by chance, that's where Martina Navratalova is with the trophy. It's a good job that somebody in the audience didn't win, eh?

Re: Sports personality of the year.

It should be called 'Sports Person of the Year'...... Because I'm struggling to see the 'Personality' in Andy Murray...

Have to agree with that, Mr E.

Not that sportspersons necessarily need a sparkling personality, of course.  Their skills are their strength, not their witty repartee or ability to deliver a pthy soundbite.  Less interviewing, more action, that's what I say.

Re: Sports personality of the year.

Well, -

in the past I have railed against Andy Murray, and have oft expressed my disappointment in his overall attitude in interviews, and his personal demeanour.

However, this person has matured from a silly teenage boy, who opened his mouth before putting his brain into gear, into a world class sportsman, and an upstanding Ambassador for British Tennis. He now thinks before he speaks, knowing that every word he utters is scrutinised by the media

He single handedly stopped the rest of the world laughing at our pathetic performances on Wimledon Courts, and long may he keep winning this prestigious event.

So Andy, although I have grand slammed you many times on RT in your early career, I now applaud you, and long may you keep winning for your beloved Scotland and therfore (at the moment) Britain.
