No thread about this on here, so I thought I'd start one.
My starter for ten is this: Okay, I'm not saying anybody is making anything up, but why did all these people wait till he was dead before accusing him of all this stuff? And quite frankly, now he's dead, what can come from it other than tarnishing a reputation that was spotless and upsetting his grieving family even further. Seems basically wrong to me. Why does someone always have to bring down our heroes and role models? They should have done what they're doing now ten years ago or not at all if you ask me.

And let us not forget how women were treated back in the 70's and that unfairness was totally ingrained in the psyche of most people.Women got their bums pinched and nobody said a damn thing.Complain about what is effectively a sexual assault and the woman would be told to stop being so silly or if in the workplace could lose here job if she insisted it be treated as an assault(which the law would have problems prosecuting given the above psyche
That was being discussing in a radio programme earlier this week.
It still happens.

#53, Yes Tommy, I saw the dreaded word solicitor appear. There is no doubt that he was strange, and probably one of life's lowest, but I shudder every time the word solicitor appears.
You would certainly have thought that one of the many would have had the courage to make a complaint at the time.

BBC 'could be sued for millions of pounds by Jimmy Savile's victims' as scandal grows Any institution linked to 'predatory sex offender' could be sued BBC offers grovelling apology as it launches three inquiries
BBC director-general George Entwistle, offered a 'profound and heartfelt apology' to the alleged victims of Sir Jimmy Savile's sexual abuse
The BBC could be sued for millions of pounds as the scandal around the Jimmy Saville sex claims grew even larger.
The former Top Of The Pops presenter has been accused of a slew of vile crimes, including sexually assaulting hospital patients while they lay in their beds, having sex with underage girls, and molesting youngsters.
A number of alleged victims have contacted lawyers and could sue any institution that is discovered to have links with Savile's alleged crimes, it was reported.
A partner at Farleys Solicitor told The Sun that the costs could mushroom into millions of pounds worth of compensation.

Jim will fix it ...felt my bum and i want £100,000 from the BBC as i cant sleep at night..... there was 100 complaints yesterday ..today the police are looking at 300..tomorrow it could be a 1000 now that money can be got so easy..
13-10-2012 10:38 PM
Yes we all know he raised a lot of money for charities,Apparently
hitler was kind to animals,So what?
Why did the victims not speak up at the time? as i said on another thread, some kid from a children's home,or some big shot celeb adored by many and feted by the establishment, mmm, tricky one who to believe
As to why victims are speaking up now,the power he held over them is gone, buried alongside the old pervert,
children who have been abused don't suddenly all rush forward to tell of their horrific experiences at once,it will be done by a brave individual who is believed and listened to by sympathetic parents and professionals then others will see belatedly that it is ok to speak up and perhaps now they will be listened to
And as far as some people still refer to him as Sir,well let that stand and maybe people will realize just how corrupt and perverted the honours system really is

There were a number of complaints over the years but no action was taken.
That is apart from the young girls who complained but were not believed.

Any kid in care was easy prey
If they complained they were locked up, vilified or worse , for saying such terrible things about 'such a nice charitable man'.
News is coming out that he was quietly told, not to come back, to quite a lot of Homes, Hospitals and charities.
as was the norm, it was hushed up , be it the Churches, Kids homes etc , the same happened with Savile.
---------------------
I keep saying this
If you could check threads on here from year and years ago, about child abuse, you'll see Savile was often mentioned, he was talked about in the threads about Gary Glitter.
I mentioned him, Embs spoke about him and I'm sure Wildly did as well
Saviles 'crimes' were known about and talked about since the early 70s

If you watched the show about the Nolan sisters history, you will hear, that even they knew about him in 1979 and they were only young adults.

When I was about 10 I had a Saturday job at the local co-op...
When the manager was telling me what to do he would put his arm around my shoulder......
Thinking back about this has traumatised me....
So Co-op... I want compensation.....
Now that flippant remark is made only to highlight the fact that 100's of people that had any contact with JS will be seeking compensation....
When I say any contact I mean that even if they were in a room at the same time as him...
Who will decide who is telling the truth and who is on the compensation bandwagon?
We all know the type....

I wonder how much he gave to Childline..

The Sun revealed how Savile molested a 17-year-old girl patient after being given keys and a job at the Berkshire psychiatric hospital.
He even had a mobile home on site and ordered teenagers inside, supposedly to clean it.
Our revelations prompted the Department of Health to yesterday announce an investigation into how Savile was appointed to lead a taskforce overseeing management restructuring at Broadmoor. A spokesman said: “In hindsight, he should obviously not have been appointed.”
Police chiefs yesterday revealed Savile’s campaign of underage sex abuse covered at least 60 victims over six decades.
Investigators now believe the Jim’ll Fix It and Top of The Pops host preyed on youngsters from 1959 to 2006, when he would have been 79.
Commander Peter Spindler, head of the Met’s Specialist Crime Investigations, said: “One week on, I have revised my estimate of the number of likely victims to be about 60.
“Once again I want to thank those who have come forward and reassure them, and anyone else who contacts us, they will be listened to.”
Scotland Yard detectives are in contact with 14 other forces investigating Savile’s abuses, with police now pursuing 340 lines of inquiry nationwide.
As the BBC continued to tear itself apart over the scandal, legal experts warned that any TV executives who covered up for Savile could be prosecuted and JAILED for perverting the course of justice.
The BBC could also end up facing a £15million compensation bill after victims called in lawyers.
A Tory MP who worked for the Beeb at the height of Savile’s fame said senior staff “must have known” the star was sexually abusing young girls.

The BBC could end up paying £15, 000,000... this is your money that you pay for to watch TV.

Susan boyle's Lawyers have started Legal action against the estate of the late Jimmy Savile,
Apparently when she was both a little girl and a teenager she met him on several occasions,
and NOT Once did he lay a finger on her.

I wonder if BBC4 are going to continue showing those old 'Top of the Pops' from 1977?
15-10-2012 4:12 PM
How about this?
There must be quite a few old actors, producers, cameramen, sound recordists etc that knew what Savile was up to. How come they never reported his itchy fingers AFTER they packed it all in?
Surely grassing up a paedophile when they had nothing to lose would have been a good thing.

More rubbish about Simmy Savile, but this time it is offensive - really, REALLY OFFENSIVE in every sense of the word. It is something you wouldn't even come across as scrawled on a toilet wall.
The Sun - who else, on page 4, are now insinuating Jimmy Savile was up to his knees in necrophillia, in other words, he got turned on at the sight of dead bodies.
The reporters themselves must be touched in the bloody head even to write it. It is obscene - there's no other word for it. Not just as an insult to Jimmy Savile, but as an insult to every hospital worker who has to carry out the distressing task of preparing a body for viewing by the next of kin. As far as I am concerned, I have read my last copy of the Sun.

Are you suggesting that any organisation funded by the tax payer should be immune from compensation claims even if people employed by those organisations cause harm to others?
That is a very dangerous road to go down.

Fred - Is this the same Sun as reported on Hillsborough?
16-10-2012 10:12 AM
The BBC cant afford to pay anyone and are making cut backs.. Now everyone is coming out of the woodwork to claim.. I wouldnt give them anything as they kept it secret all these years and only pay the ones who reported it when it happened..How much did he give Childline?
