No thread about this on here, so I thought I'd start one. 

My starter for ten is this: Okay, I'm not saying anybody is making anything up, but why did all these people wait till he was dead before accusing him of all this stuff? And quite frankly, now he's dead, what can come from it other than tarnishing a reputation that was spotless and upsetting his grieving family even further. Seems basically wrong to me. Why does someone always have to bring down our heroes and role models? They should have done what they're doing now ten years ago or not at all if you ask me.

Well I read it before it went 😮 I hoped it was sick black humour and wasnt a serious view, there is nothing normal about it unless there is nothing remotely decent or moral about someone who 'thinks', let alone 'posts', on a forum, that abusing vulnerable people and kids is perfectly normal.

Do not bother investigating the 120 + lines of enquiry across 6 forces... At the end of the day we will all form our own opinions anyway...

There's a fundamental flaw in your suggestion.

You left out the victims of Saville. It's about them being able to speak out after all the years they've kept quiet, and to be believed. One of the problems children/young people have in cases of abuse is they are not believed. It's very important that this is taken to its final conclusion.

Turns out his TV show was a bit of a sham too - it was just a media outlet for anyone who wanted a bit of publicity and had the money to pay for it.  It worked like this.  You'd get some record company with a once famous band who's sales were now sagging and they'd say 'Jim we need to get on the TV, can you fix it for us?'  So he'd say yeah sure, I'll just get someone from the office to pop down to the local school and get the kids there to write a few begging letters, and we'll put the best one on air as an intro to your appearance.  Ker-ching.

The accusation has come after the alleged Jimmy Savile sex-abuse scandal

A British TV celebrity has been accused of sexually abusing a woman.

An alleged victim has come forward after the ITV documentary that claimed Jimmy Savile molested underage girls to tell producers that she was abused by a well-known media figure when she was a child.

The new allegations concern a TV personality who is still alive, but he has not been named.

The woman made the new claims first to the makers of the 'Exposure: The Other Side of Jimmy Savile' documentary, who have advised her to contact the police.

The John Peel article mentions an on going affair with this girl. Not predatory abuse of children. Yes she was under age but it reads as if she was a willing participant.

This is just a waste of Police time now.. They had their chance when he was alive, i wonder how many are jumping on the bandwagon.

These 120+ lines of enquiry could well uncover still living child abusers that were involved with Saville, examples are Gary Glitter who is now being investigated, Johnathon King who I think is still in jail for abusing boys, he was one of Saville's co-horts. I think many more abusers will be uncovered before this investigation is over..

Now they are going to sue the BBC and Hospitals.. we should see 1000s more saying he grouped them..now they know they can get money.

Those who turned a blind eye to protect their jobs and lucritive pensions from both these establishments should be ashamed of their nest eggs as that was the reason most of them would have stayed stumm. The payments will come from insurance policies the NHS and BBC have for purposes of litigation I should think and unfortunately wont hurt the golden lined pockets of these morally challenged accessories to the abuse. More is the pity.

Just an opinion here so don't all shout at me.

What exactly is covered by the terms "Molesting" and "Abusing"?

How does a reader differentiate between a pat on the upper thigh in a jokey sort of way and a fondle in the same area? One could be passed off quite easily but the other should be classed as a criminal offence. Ideally, there should be some sort of figure tacked on to the end of the words to show the severity of the actions. "Abuse 3", "Molesting 1" etc

Jimmy Savile, acted, talked and dressed like a perv and anybody with half a brain cell could see that he was "strange" but was it all just his TV persona or was it his "You can't catch me" way of thinking?

Hes the best candidate for intrusion by the sun/news of the world/tabloid scum(forgotten about hacking certain murdered children's phones?)

He is dead and cannot answer any questions.

I wonder how many think because he touched them on the shoulder that they were abused? best stick to that story or just make one up.Might even be able to gain financially from the tabloid scum or government award scheme.Tell any story you like theres no way on gods earth anyone can prove otherwise.

And let us not forget how women were treated back in the 70's and that unfairness was totally ingrained in the psyche of most people.Women got their bums pinched and nobody said a damn thing.Complain about what is effectively a sexual assault and the woman would be told to stop being so silly or if in the workplace could lose here job if she insisted it be treated as an assault(which the law would have problems prosecuting given the above psyche 

I do remember a Judge( the highest purveyor of the law) state that if women dont want to be raped they should keep their legs shut.

Such was the mentality of the day.
