Minor things that bother you

What are your pet peeves?

If I get the bus, I find it offensive when people sitting at the back use the seat infront as a foot rest. God knows what they might have tread on outside and other people have to sit there.

I don't mind if people eat on public transoprt, but I've seen people throw their empty food packaging either on the floor on on the seats.

Oh, also people that spit in public view.

You're right Petal Smiley Very Happy

Oh and people in front of you at supermarket checkouts with a trolley full of shopping. Sometimes they see you only have one or two items and don't offer to let you jump in front.

Tut tut

I frequently get asked for directions.

Surely everyone has a smartphone with the Google maps app.

I don't get it.

During the current lockdown restrictions I am very twitchy about those who go to the supermarket and the start arguing with staff who ask them to observe the rules? Why can’t people just observe the rules and not take it out on others,

Re: Minor things that bother you

Thought I'd combine my daily exercise with buying more milk.  As I was going to the shop thought I'd buy x, y and z that I'm running low on, to make queueing worthwhile.

Stood in the queue for 15 mins., bought x, y, and z no problem, but they'd run out of milk.

Re: Minor things that bother you

Over familiarisation from professional people who have never met me, who know my name, yet on first contact call me 'my love' on the phone. I find it unprofessional and immensely irritating.

I have just been phoned by my solicitor (or rather the one who is now doing the job as mine has been furloughed). They are anyway an incompetent bunch - I am buying a garage - no chain, no search ( I did the necessary) and it has already been 15 weeks and still not sorted. Excuses, and lies, losing paperwork, blaming the vendors solicitor etc. Grrrrrr!

Anyway this new female solicitor who I have never spoken to before just rang me and called me 'my love' in her first sentence. 🤬

I have a new female doctor and she also called me the same when she rang me.

I daresay that males wouldn't do that in case of complaints. IMO professional women shouldn't either.

Maybe I'm odd, I don't mind so much if other people do it or if it's face to face e.g. in a shop but I find it really unprofessional in a business transaction. If someone is going to charge me a fortune for doing very little very slowly they can jolly well respect me by using my name !

Re: Minor things that bother you

Well I have never been called “ my love” although as a youngster “ me duck” was de rigeur, for both Male and females. Dr’s try to be respectful in my opinion, but sometimes get it wrong as we all do, I am prepared to be flexible with anyone who is primarily there to help me. I draw the line at the term buddy, which I cannot stand, but am fine with **bleep**, in a manner of speaking😀
