Severe weather warnings of more than 10cm (4in) of snow have been issued by the Met Office for 26 December. It said rain, sleet and snow are set to spread east across parts of Northern Ireland, England and Wales, before clearing in the evening and overnight. Forecasters said there was a risk of several centimetres of snow even at low levels, and roads could turn very icy. Snowfall disrupts travel across UK Snowy weather has led to travel disruption, with Liverpool Airport forced to close after a "deluge". The police have also issued warnings to drivers in the Midlands and the North-West, where snow and sleet may make driving more difficult. A large swathe of central Britain has been warned to be ready for snow as a cold snap brings freezing temperatures in the lead-up to the New Year. The Met office has upgraded its cold weather alert to Level 3 amber, the second highest, saying there was a 90 percent chance of severe cold, ice or snow in parts of England between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve.
