He ordered us to preach to the people and to give a thorough witness.—Acts 10:42

He ordered us to preach to the people and to give a thorough witness.—Acts 10:42.All of us are subject to “the law of the Christ.” (Gal. 6:2) That law includes all that Jesus taught. Foremost among Jesus’ teachings is that his followers should display love. (John 13:35; Jas. 2:8) And one of the primary ways we show love for God, for Christ, and for our neighbor is by preaching the good news of the Kingdom. (John 15:10; Acts 1:8) Jesus commanded only a relatively small number of his followers—those to whom he appeared after his resurrection—to preach. (Acts 10:40-42; 1 Cor. 15:6) But all his faithful first-century disciples recognized that the command applied to them, even if they had not personally heard Jesus speak. (Acts 8:4; 1 Pet. 1:8) Likewise today, Jesus has not personally spoken to any of the eight million active Kingdom preachers. But all recognize their obligation to exercise faith in Christ and to express that faith by means of the witnessing work.—Jas. 2:18. w15 3/15 4:14, 15

Nothing bad about that at all FD, they are all admirable principles that we should all try to live by.  What I doubt is the requirement or necessity to have God/Jehovah in our lives to enable us to live by these moral standards. Lots of people throughout history have led blameless and admirable lives without the need to embrace God. They can't all be devil worshippers, it's not a case of 'you must be one or the other' some of us simply make do without becoming part of an organised religious club.

If you believe there is a God, fine, I have absolutely no problem with that. I don't feel that the problem is really the faith in God or the unseen or unproven existence of that God. People believe all sorts of things that can't be proven and that is OK.

The problem for most is that the Bible, which we all know has undergone quite a bit of editing depending of which religion it was used by, is being taken as the word of God, while it was men who put pen to papyrus and didn't write word for word what God dictated to them, but their interpretation of Jesus' words and his teachings. (Apparently there were no women who wrote anything down........).

If you ask several people who have witnessed an accident they will all give a slightly different account of what happened. Multiply this by 10, 20 or 50 and you get a lot of Chinese whispers. So therein lies the issue that people have with the stories in the Bible. And in my opinion that's why a lot of people doubt the validity of the words.

I am happy for you that you find peace in your faith. I really am, but when you keep putting quotes from the Bible on this forum you do know what response you will get. I don't think you will ever change the minds of the people on here. It's a bit like flogging a dead horse. Sorry.

I'm going to have to go and look into the video and research what it is in fact on about properly. So I can't really answer you at the moment. I haven't actually seen that video before.

As for your other comments, I do appreciate what you say about me regarding my faith, you gave never been anything other than friendly and respectful towards whatever I have written even if you can't agree xxx

I know I probably won't change the views of those here, but I really don't believe it is flogging a dead horse lol xx

People and circumstances change, you never know something someone says may touch a chord with another and perhaps make them question something or look at something in another perspective.you see no mater what we say or do, we cannot make someone choose, they have to do that for themselves.  The number of Jehovah's Witnesses is acceleratingt an alarming rate compared to many other religions, some of those as you would perhaps expect are decreasing, that has got to be down to good reasons. It is over 8 million now. We were told that Jehovah would speed things up in the last days and I believe that is definable happening.

If by putting up a few scriptures and passages and information up on here occasionally it just one person reads it and starts looking into Jehovah's word for themselves then I really don't think it is in vain.  I also will be doing what my opening post was all about and according to Mathew 28:19,20.

Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations,+ baptizing them+ in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.+ And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”*+

What reason could God have for condemning a child to a slow death other than spite against his parents due to a complete lack of a moral compass.

There are many similarities between The Jehovah's Witness Faith and the Muslim Faith, particularly the role of women in those faiths. Both are Patriarchal Societies, with women taking a submissive role and the male being the head of the family. Those attitudes are Medieval and should have been wiped out centuries ago. Any Faith that denies women an equal role has no place in modern society.

I have a friend who was a JW...she divorced her husband and left the faith. Since then she has emerged from being a depressed little mouse of a woman, into a gloriously happy contented butterfly of a woman, with loads of friends.

So you are saying that it's okay for an innocent child to suffer and die because of the parent's wrong doing.

I wonder if that explanation kept the Amalekite children satisfied as the Israeli soldiers hacked them to death in their eagerness to commit genocide.

A very strange morality, however since there is not one scrap of evidence to show the genocide actually happened, perhaps it doesn't matter, being just another story like so much of the Bible.

Harry I have watched the video and listened to the scientist in some of his other videos too.
He isn't saying in your video aanything extraordinary in my opinion.
It would have been expected that some may try all kinds of ways to stoo Gods word becoming known and back then there were plenty of scholars and so called Christian men claiming to be Men of God but proving to be in opposition. I. Posting these few links will explain this better than I ever could.

I have no authority or right to judge Jehovah.xx

What I do have is my own ability to reason things out for myself and decide for myself whether I agree and accept Jehovah's decisions and council on matters.

1 Peter 3:7

You husbands, in the same way, continue dwelling with them according to knowledge.Assign them honor as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one, since they are also heirs with youof the undeserved favor of life, in order for your prayers not to be hindered.

Genisi 2:18
18  Then Jehovah God said: “It is not good for the man to continue to be alone. I am going to make a helper for him, as a complement of him.”

Ephesians 5:25:29
25  Husbands, continue loving your wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself up for it, 26  in order that he might sanctify it, cleansing it with the bath of water by means of the word, 27  so that he might present the congregation to himself in its splendor, without a spot or a wrinkle or any of such things, but holy and without blemish.28  In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. A man who loves his wife loves himself, 29  for no man ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cherishes
it, just as the Christ does the congregation,

Colossians 3:18
18  You wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as it is becoming in the Lord

1peter 3 1-6
In the same way, you wives, be in subjection to your husbands, so that if any are not obedient to the word, they may be won without a word through the conduct of their wives, 2  because of having been eyewitnesses of your chaste conducttogether with deep respect. 3  Do not let your adornment be external—the braiding of hair and the wearing of gold ornaments or fine clothing—4  but let it be the secret person of the heart in the incorruptible adornment of the quiet and mild spirit, which is of great value in the eyes of God. 5  For this is how the holy women of the past who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, subjecting themselves to their husbands, 6  just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you have become her children, provided you continue doing good and do not give in to fear.

Yes astro,

Wives to be in subjection to their husbands and husbands in subjection to the Christ and Christ to Jehovah.

It certainly doesn't mean a husband should abuse his wife, we were made as a helper, and companion, we are treated as equals in the eyes of God.
Husbands and wives should have deep respect for each other, deep love and affection. If both the husband and wife are obedient to Jehovah's principals then there will be a good balanced marriage. Having said that though none of us are perfect so there will be challenges but they can be overcome if you deal with each other with love respect and patience.

That's not to say that I don't respect those who have a genuine faith, each to their own as many have said, but as a scientist I am rather more of the Richard Dawkins school of thought on God.  And no-one could ever change my views on evolution and the true age of our planet..

All that fear and guilt attached to religion and it doesn't seem to make many individuals better people.

Catholic and Protestant priests (some of them) are a shocking example, and some JWs too.

So much hypocrisy among some religions. Where are the protestations from members of these faiths?  Perhaps a bit more zeal preaching within the faiths about how to behave would do more good than trying to convert decent people who choose other paths?

Sorry OP...................But in my opinion you haven't done yourself, or your chosen form of religion, any favours whatsoever.

I would go so far as to say that what you have written and claimed, would deter even the easily led, provided they had a modicum of intelligence, from becoming a Jehovahs Witness.

Not that I needed it, but I now have absolute confirmation that politely turning away JW's when they make their annual call to my door (Why do they always come in two's and threes?) was the right course of action.

I won't even get involved with you in discussing your seemingly fanatical beliefs, some of which, I find to be a little sinister.

However, I will pose the question......................Why do JW's think that by calling at someones door they would be able to persuade said someone, to leave  their own chosen form of religion and strongly held beliefs to join another, that is at odds with their own own (and long standing) religion?

Kind Regards

I like reading off these boards but just lately good people have been commenting on the the sad sorry state this world is getting into regarding all the carnage and evil groups roaming around and attacking every where they can. All in the name of God.

I feel for people, some are clearly posting about their dismay and disgust in these events. I want to point out that all these terrible things will soon come to an end, that God isn't to blame for all these calamities that it will soon come to an end.
