I had my 1st own in 1998 ( had only ever very limited access to pooters before)...but only started giffing here Jan. 2003
Yeah, daughter was 13 & she said everyone at school had a computer. I felt guilty so bought one.
I can remember it well... felt really nervous switching it on :^O
I thought I'd get a virus straight away - I did within a week though [no anti-virus software]
Fixed it myself & the rest is history 😄

My 1st, a pico laptop (with Windows 95, at a discount) died after 5 years _ I had hardly anything backed up...
