George Osborne to defend Budget ahead of Common vote

This has kind of been discussed in the IDS resigning thread, money is finite and doesn't grow on trees. One bunch wants to spend it on anything and everything, like there's no tomorrow ( regardless of whether they've got enough money or not ). The other bunch wants to spend nothing on anything, like they're saving money for money's sake. One bunch have no concept of the fact that things cost money, the other bunch think money is GOD and to spend it on anything is to waste it. It seems beyond the capabilities of these so called intelligent people, to find a system in between.........where the money earned by a country, is spent improving that country and the lives of those who live in it.. A land of opportunity, not selfishness, a land of givers, not takers, a land where you earn what you get and get what you earn..........a civilized country, where those in need are not left to die in the gutter.

The contemptible attempting to justify the indefensible. Should be a good comedy of errors.

Looks like the Tories have once again assumed the mantle of 'The Nasty Party' - that's if they ever lost it in the first place.

But the present bunch have borrowed more Money than every Labour Government combined

Gideon has a £4 billion hole in His budget

But fails to mention - His actions will loose the British Tax payer £22 billion, selling the Shares we have in RBS on the cheap to His Pals in 'The City' at a discount

This Governments actions Have let Goggle pay a fraction of what Goggle will pay in back Taxes to France, even though Goggle makes way more profit in the UK than they make in France

Osborne & Cameron said the Tax changes in this Budget were designed to help 'Middle Earners'  (Their words) when in fact these changes around the £40k Tax band will help ONLY the Top 7% of  the population.

Osborne & Cameron instead of tightening the Rules around the Help Britain gives to our various Offshore Tax Havens (that includes Commonwealth Islands), have done the exact opposite, making it easier for UK Companies to register there.

So, like I said, in their own ways; they're as bad as each other.  Although, to digress slightly, at a time when the World is on Fire; Labour have an ex Hippy " Bag Man" Michael Foot lookalike, as leader.......who announces to the World, that under NO circumstances would he ever launch Nuclear Weapons.  We won't have to worry about the Country's economy, when it's a burnt out cinder......will we!!Smiley Indifferent............keeping in mind " nuclear capability " is on the verge of becoming a privilege enjoyed, not only by Nations ( as dysfunctional as some of those may be ) but by groups that would Gut you, cook you and eat you.......AND your family; in the blink of an eye.

I'd give up, on here, if I were you mike. One tries to give a balanced view, being able to think broadly and fairly and seeing fault were fault is due...........and then along come the flat cap and mushy peas brigade, whose Father voted Labour, Granddad voted Labour, Great Granddad voted Labour, Uncle Voted Labour, Auntie Voted Labour and so did the owner of the Dog next door............so guess what they are going to vote. You can't have an educated and informed conversation / discussion with that kind of mentality.  You could be talking about Mince Pies and they'd say " Yes well of course, Labour made the best mince pies "........... they do my  *&$£**"" Head in.

Dozens of people protesting against disability benefit cuts have occupied the central lobby in parliament, chanting “Cameron killer” and “no more deaths from benefit cuts”.

Black Rod, the official with responsibility for the parliamentary estates and security, ordered reporters not to take or tweet photos of the protests. Under parliamentary rules, only authorised photography is allowed.

Holding a banner reading “Is this really how to treat disabled people?”, they shouted slogans at passing MPs, while a line of police blocked the entrance to theHouse of Commons chamber.

The Green MP, Caroline Lucas, disobeyed the rules to tweet pictures of the protest, including a selfie with one of the organisers.

“Congrats to disability campaigners for protest currently taking place in central lobby – their voices must be heard,” she wrote.

Claire Glasman, of WinVisible, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, said: “We are lobbying MPs to make sure the budget cuts to PIP do not go ahead and ask them to reverse the cuts to other ones. People are suicidal.”

Paula Peters, of Disabled People Against the Cuts, said the group wanted “an apology from George Osborne for the deaths of disabled people” and accused the government of having “blood on its hands”.

“We want our full rights restored, we can’t take any more,” she said.

The protest ended peacefully just after 1pm, with the campaigners singing “Osborne out” and “we’ll be back”, accompanied by someone on a harmonica.

Interesting isn't it that when PIP, (personal independence payments), was proposed as a replacement for the DLA, (disability living allowance), there were nationwide protests and claims from one side that its introduction was an attack on the disabled and from the other that it was a fairer system and would save money.

Now that it turns out that PIP will cost upto £15 billion more the positions are reversed.

One of the reasons that PIP is costing more is that a large number of people are appealing their decisions and winning their cases in tribunals, but not to worry the compassionate government is onto them,

"The government has allocated £22 million to step up its fight in benefit claims tribunals over the next two years"

http://www.buzzfeed.com/alanwhite/the-government-has-put-aside-ps22m-to-fight-benefits-claim-t#.gyAe...

Added to that people will have the worry of cuts to legal aid, some say conveniantly timed to coincide with cuts to their social security

The problem is that I KNOW there are people out there, swinging the lead and getting untold allowances; that they shouldn't be getting. They've got no scruples and hide among the genuine claimants, cashing in on the wave of genuine anger; shown by those that do deserve the assistance they get. These people have no shame, no morals and certainly no intention of relinquishing their undeserved allowances; unless they're prised off them with a crowbar.  I knew a woman in London, some years back, who was given a Car, a House, a disability allowance and a special disabled parking spot was marked out for her; outside her House. Her disability..........she was DEAF.......DEAF for christ's sake. Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for anybody who has lost any of their senses; but deafness is something that doesn't restrict a person life, as much as many others.  As the government don't seem to have the resources, or the know how, to look at the problem the RIGHT way.......INDIVIDUALLY.........they just crucify everybody, in their usual " if you get them all, you can't miss " fashion..........shame it's beyond their mental capacity; to apply that where it really should be applied..........in dealing with ISIS.

No doubt there are people claiming allowances wrongly, but they are very few in number,

The latest Work and Pensions Committee report Fraud and error in the benefits system shows that official data shows that there is nearly twice as much error as fraud in the benefits system. - See more at: http://www.disabilityrightsuk.org/news/2014/may/benefits-fraud-less-one-cent#sthash.4MLj55Px.dpuf

"The official figure for fraud is 0.7% yet the general public’s misperception is that it is 34 times higher (23%)."

mind you,not sure how many deaf people get given a car, they might have tightened the rules up since that woman in London got one!!

Shame these high flying economists can't work out, that when it costs more to collect something than it does not to, it might be a good idea to forget it...............Gawd struth what do they teach these " **bleep**s " at Uni .

'Very  few in number'. Someone's having a laugh...come to South Wales....every other person down here uses a walking stick, but only when they are out and about town. I know many people who are on disability benefits , and don't work, but who can do DIY when it suits them. They have no shame.

Don't forget another the main reason that PIP costs so much more - the money that is paid to the private firms to manage the claims and do the assessments are no small addition to the system, plus all the extra papework and decision processes within the DWP, and that's even before any award is made.

The administrative cost in setting this all up has never been revealed either but the costs for Universal Credit have gone so out of control on a system that is apparently already out of date, that it's appalling that no-one has been sacked, let alone prosecuated for the truly atrocious and flagrant waste of public funds.
