How many more shows and programmes are we going to have to see about WW1??
Have we not had enough yet?
I appreciate that enough needs to be made of it to ensure that it never happers again. I also see that enough needs to be shown of the sadness that it brings to people's lives.
But enough is enough. We know that the Germans, under Hitler, was a tricky sort of chap to deal with but, by now, we've got it.

Shame - ??????

By dismissing the people who gave their lives and the news coveage of that to promote
ceedee's own agenda in a thread that had absolutely nothing even remotely to do with
the conflict in Israel\Gaza

This thread has nothing to do with those who died in WWI
It was started by Stevie who appears to be fed up with the amount of coverage currently being given to WWI, (although he appears to be a little confused as to which war was which!)
I don't see anything shameful in discussing the news coverage being given to a current war - seems totally relevant.
Haven't seen any sign of anyone, "dismissing the people who gave their lives", either.

So you would be fine if I started posting about Cliff Richard on a thread about israel?

If it was relevant - no problem.
Discussing news stories about a war on a thread about news stories about a war seems totally relevant.

I have not watched all of the programmes but i think its an important part of our history and lots of people gave their lives and did their duty for the place of their birth!!!!!. I respect that and its a shame a few more programmes like that are not on to make younger people see what real life was about. Imagine half of the sorts we have around today being called up suddenly to fight in a war!!!!!!. Do them Bloomin Good!!!!!. Take their minds of Benefits and what their going to spend them on,,when to have their next BABY!!!!!,,, or where to get the latest lot of Smack!!!. There would be a B****Y GOOD SHAKE UP THEN!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Rose, you seem to have a very dim view of the people who make up modern society, well I don't believe it's all as bad as you appear to believe. Benefits and the next smack score are only the concern of a few, and many decent families consider when they should perhaps have their next baby.
Don't get so down on societiy's ills, it's not all that bad and there's plenty of good you could focus on instead.

Well thanks for sharing that thought, very Christian of you! At least the people in the Midlands aren't all rude though!

Try having a look around Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Hereford & Worcester, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire, Lincolnshire and more. Quite beautiful if you go see!!!

It depends on what you consider constitutes "The Midlands"?
Roughly, it's Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire, but some include Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Rutland as well. Take your pick (And your shovel if you like).
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.

Well if Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire aren't in the Midlands where are they?
General definitions I've seen have Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Hereford & Worcester, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Nottinghamshire and the West Midlands. I'm sure Midlands news tends to include Oxfordshire also though.
I'm in Warwickshire BTW.

I am not disconnected from the 'Real World'. (I wish!)
