'Er indoors wants a new dog.

So I'm open to suggestions.

All that I know for sure is that this new doggie needs to follow these rules.

It needs to be a puppy at around 9 to 12 weeks.

It needs to be complete with all Vet's bills, wormed, etc.

It needs to be a **bleep** so no marking it's territory with urinating all over the place.

It needs to be a small type of dog that grows up to be the size of a Westie.

So there you go. All types of dogs looked at if they fall into those categories.

Last but not least, must cost less than £500.

Ta very much for any suggestions.

Steve. xxx for the ladies.

Stevie ......gruff handshake for the lads

Well why are you asking us that's a pretty good list ya have to be going on with I would have thought , all of em nice dogs if you get them from a reputable breeder! LOL!. Another alternative is one of the x breeds that have been bred for that specific purpose, for people who are allergic to dog hair, but your £500 pounds won't buy one I'm afraid!

Why not go to the Dogs trust tell them what you are looking for, size, shape, sex etc and they will contact you when they have a suitable one come in,  They only ask for a donation and it takes the worry out of where you buy one from,  They are not only crossbreeds they have single breed dogs as well puppies and older dogs.

We told them we were looking for a spaniel aged around 6 months and a female,  3 weeks later they rang and got exactly what we were looking for, for the princely sum of £90, she had had her injections, she was spayed and we had 6 months free insurance, also she was microchipped.

They have dogs coming in all the time who would love a new home.

Dog's Trust ........ Mmmmmmm.

Mmmmm ... Is that a kind of local  thing or is it nationwide?

If I phhoned a shop in Blackburn. would they let me know if there was a s suitable dog in Kent?

I suppose the only way is to get on the interweb and find out for myself.

Thanks guys.

I was going to suggest a rescue place too.

Bluecross is a good one and they have branches up and down the country, they do exactly what you asked about, finding one from one area and getting to yours for you.

As has been mentioned before there are plenty of different breeds all wanting new homes, you can get pups too. Blue cross won't let an animal go unless it has had all it's up to date meds. It can also be much cheaper becouse most of the time they just ask for a donation towards the cost of the dog.

Well... I  said Google ''Battersea Dogs Home'' And they do have a place in Kent at Brands hatch. And Windsor Berkshire.

And of course London. I gave you the telephone number.  And they Will have or get the right dog for you.  And it's probably waiting for you right now.

Perhaps get it over with is my other bit of advice.

The OP might want to decide what kind of temperament and activity level they are looking for in their puppy also. Some dogs are much more active and require more attention than others. So depending on if you have a yard to let them out in or if it's strictly taking it out for walks, that's makes a big difference. Also, some have much more mild temperaments than others. So if you have kids or grand kids stopping by, you wouldn't want a dog that was short tempered.

The Dogs Trust are brilliant and never put a healthy dog to sleep even if it has behavioural problems.

The nearest centre to you Steve is in Liverpool.

Personally I'd never have a pedigree dog again - mongrels tend to have far fewer medical problems and also in general live longer - for all this they are  less in demand than pedigree dogs Smiley Sad

Excuse me Steve,  but here is something you and others may have missed? And it saves starting a new thread. I know there was no thread on this story.  And it's Just the other side of what matters:

008.JPG

Katy Gammon, 27, tied up her pet boxer Roxy, and left it at home for a week the trainee Solicitor returned  to a stench so strong she could not face going inside. The Boxer was eventually found 10 weeks later after complaints about flies. RSPCA inspectors had to  scrape dead Roxy off the floor with a shovel. Gammon was jailed for 18 weeks. Well there you go that's Justice for you?

Some say ''an eye for an eye''  I would too. You may agree without looking at my attachment?  But be warned if you do it is of Roxy after this.... THING!  had finished with him. How sorry she is... for herself.  She (it) like so many like her would not have done it if one deserved hell of a sentence was available. But no, why would the powers that be think otherwise? Yes18 weeks usually out at 9. Justice is it ? Just look at that attachment if you think you can and that is all that dog had in the world.

There are plenty of rescue organisations who have dogs that would make wonderful pets,  the designer pets that are all the fashion at the moment are mongrels, there are thousands of mongrels looking for a good home,  just ask for a mongrel that is a poodle cross if you have alergies.

The prices people are charging for a mongrel is awful, people just jumping on the fashion band wagon.  £600 £700 £800 for a mongrel, it is no wonder the rescue centres have so many dogs for rehoming, when people are willy nilly breeding fashion dogs.

The Dogs Trust and Blue Cross have kennels all over the country, if they don't have what you want in your local one they could have one in another centre.

This is a dogs trust dog, isn't he gorgeous, poodle cross.

Dog rescue is a good idea, the only thing I would say is to choose a rescue centre that has daily walkers who give up their time to walk dogs, they are the people to answer your questions on behaviour & temperament as they spend more time with the dogs, & if you do won't a pedigree there are plenty in these rescue centres, valuable dogs are abandoned because they don't fit the fashion anymore , sickening I know but it happens& another thing ugly dogs shouldn't be passed over either!

Sam.  If you Google  her name Katy Gammon, most of your answers should be there. And some great pictures of Roxy.

At the story Justice for Roxy starved to death third from bottom 1,370 of us have signed a petition. Perhaps you might want too. Yes the petition is still running and you can comment on there if you wish.

ED # 32  yes he is indeed. Thank you.

You gave away your parrot cos you couldn't look after it. Why will a dog be any different?

Can you read?

I don't mean to be harsh but the title definitely mentions that it is my wife that wants the new dog. Not me.

We checked out the RSPCA kind of places near us and the mearest chelter is in Altham. Booking arranged dor tomorrow afternoon.

It does make me lsugh though when experiences people say ....... "Get to see the mum and dad if you can" .... But the only plsces that have these mum and dad set-ups are places where you don't get abandoned stray dogs.

It's a minefield.

Steve, have you considered every aspect, I know you're the same age as me, and a puppy could live up to 15 years.

Also, that a puppy is very hard work, as I know from us buying one last year.

Although I love her to bits, it's like having a toddler that you can never take your eyes off.
