Re: EU vote

I would challenge any of you who have liked this post to come to the town where I live, and see what the EU has done for us. If you live or work  in Cardiff...yes..it's great, and 'I'm all right Jack' for you. Come to the valleys, and see what's happening there. That's why we voted out, and in such large numbers. We know that it will be up to Westminster to help us now, but if they don't, at least we will be able to get rid of them, unlike those UELECTED  fat cats in Brussels who have enjoyed tossing us the odd scrap occasionally to keep us quiet.

Re: EU vote

I suspect that Jimbooks and all the like posters have jobs that depend on EU money, so they can see their jobs going down the pan if Westminster don't come up with the goods. Both my daughters have jobs that are funded by EU money, but this is about more than money...it's about pride. They both understand my stance on the referendum.

Re: EU vote

Well... as expected other countries around Europe are now considering the vote themselves, and the breakup of the EU isn't that far away, perhaps a new "United States of Europe" but this time not run by morons, and only those who can contribute into a natural disaster fund should be allowed to join?

Re: EU vote

Its to be expected that some "Groups" of people will cash in on this, I bet anonymous has already said something. But we can ignore these if we want, and pay attention to whats really going on out there, and there are many EU countries who are also considering the vote now

In this new " united states of Europe " don't forget to shoot the lawyers, who make everything SO complicated; that we need them to interpret it.......thereby ensuring their constant and exorbitant income...........and artificially manufactured importance.

Yeah, far better to have a slap-dash set of laws with no protection for the common man, eh?

Whilst we're at it, let's tear up The Human Rights Act as well:- everyman for himself!

Isn't it funny, how the ones that talk about hanging heads in " shame " ( quote ) are the least patriotic and maybe the shame is theirs, having been shown up by the rest of us; who still have some pride & good old fashioned British " backbone " left.  OH !! and some of us can't be bought.......I know that will be hard to understand for others !!

Re: EU vote

I dont have a job dependent on EU money, but I do agree with your daughters.

The EU gave South Wales a tremendous infrastructure as well as grants and community projects. It is sad that some of these were and are badly run but that is not the fault of Europe, its the fault of people who cant run businesses. Cardiff does benefit from capital projects and charitable funding but gets no help with jobs, so enough of your chips on both shoulders, you'll have enough time to reflect on why your decision was SO wrong on thursday in the next few years and no doubt your daughters will remind you should you forget how you voted.

As a side point it is extremely annoying hearing the Brexit leaders now denying that they promised to reduce immigration and that they are already backtracking on the promised £300 odd million weekly for the NHS. They lied, they know they lied and are now squirming like mad, I can see this vote being overturned before we even get to leave because the Brexit leaders will be revealed as a bunch of charlatans and liars

Re: EU vote

The shooting all lawyers, was a deliberate over sarcasms..........obviously too subtle and I must stop doing that.  The inference was on the over complicate, bureaucratic, mess that the EU has become. But then as I said elsewhere, at the end of every over regulated, nanny state, instruction / law ; is another human being, who did something that made it necessary.

And the remain bunch told the truth when they said:

There are no plans for Turkey to join.......When it's a done deal.

We have the power of veto......................When we don't.

Our security is stronger if we remain........Which it isn't.

Etc,etc,etc.

Or how they tried to blackmail and intimidate us in to voting stay by using threats of an emergency budget.

Well we voted out and neither Cameron nor Osbourne have the clout to do that. now.

You got it the wrong way round it's the remain camp which have been exposed.

Reply to jimbooks360

How dare you say I should hang my head in shame because I am Welsh and voted OUT. I live in the South Wales valleys and have done so all my life. I have seen what was once bustling local towns reduced to almost ghost towns. A town not far from me used to be the shopping hub that most people from the valleys went to but not anymore. Most of the high street giants have gone and all thats left is charity shops and pound shops. My daughter and I counted 12 charity shops as we walked the main high street (which is not that long).  What I have just said goes for the majority of towns in the valleys. Its all very well to be awarded scraps of money from the EU for "street furniture" but when that pretty structure is opposite boarded up shops that does not bode well with me.

In all honesty li-susie, I do not see where anyone is being disrespectful to anyone else. It is adults having a political discussion with differing opinions, apart from the troll that moderators allow to roam freely with impunity.

Re: EU vote

Thanks Calibra.......I can see that you have the same unhappiness as I have at the demise of our home towns. I walk through my town and I see the same...empty shops and charity shops. I also see shops, privately owned, that have had thousands spent on them, all EU money. The scaffolding goes up, along with the banners trumpeting the great EU grants to do the shops up, but strangely, after the job is done, they are left empty. So these people have had their properties nicely renovated corruptly....all down to the EU.

Meanwhile...billions are spent in Cardiff, the little Welsh Assembly bubble. That is another corrupt organisation that should go....costing billions and doing nothing but spout hot air. And more millions were spent in Newport on the new Friars walk shopping mall, a shiny new place, but within a few hundred yards of the old shopping centre which is also a wasteland. And Jimbooks thinks I, and you, should be ashamed because we want something different, something better, for our proud country. We have been begging from the EU long enough. Next to go will be the Labour Councillors who are hand in glove with the EU and strangling the valleys....roll on next year for the local elections. We are beginning to fight back. So I am NOT ashamed...I have pride.

Re: EU vote

Well said

I dont live in Wales but respect the Welsh and love Wales, democracy is the greatest fear for the EU and it is the powers that be who should be ashamed. Millions of europeans wish they had their own democracy back and now hopefully, they can put pressure on their arrogant leaders to give them an opportunity to be heard too.  The arrogance of the power mad 'eu experiment' manipulators is what caused us to vote out. If Merkel and co had been more able to see how out of touch with normality their mindset was, and made some reforms we would still be in I expect, but with a weak Cameron doing his worst at the meeting and getting nothing, the EU will now pay for that.  A swift kick up the backs***  never fails to get attention.

Re: EU vote

In reply to all

Don't suppose you were around when we joined the EU, butter mountains, grain mountains, and apples, all sprayed with chemicals to stop people using them, I new then the EU was going to be a problem. Farmers closing farms and more....

Anyway this country has had a majority vote, so surly we can now all work together and put he Great back in Britain. After all you do believes in a democracy don't you? or only when they vote your way ?

Lets hope from this the NHS will be much better, un employment will go down, the silly e-cigarette law can be trashed 🙂 (sorry I needed to put that in) and we look forward to a better future.

I moved to England when the grass was much greener, the valleys were already dying and what happened then was bad for us, so now lets have another go and get it right this time!

we dont need to argue, just stick together to do whats best !
