BBC News......It is understood the most likely military response to Wednesday's suspected chemical weapons attack would be a one-off or limited guided missile strikes on Syrian military targets fired from US Navy warships.
Mr Cameron has spoken to a number of foreign leaders over the bank holiday weekend, including US President Barack Obama and his French and German counterparts.
The prime minister and Mr Obama agreed the need for a "firm response" from the international community to the attack.
Downing Street said Mr Cameron had used a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to tell him there was "little doubt" a chemical weapons attack had been carried out by President Bashar al-Assad's regime.
But Mr Putin told him they had no evidence an attack had taken place or who was responsible, it said.
'Fabricated' footage
Russia, a key ally of Syria, has warned any intervention without a UN mandate would be "a grave violation of international law".

Tommy, did you not read the comment below that?:-
"That's a Hell Cannon! Range of less than a mile. it's a glorified mortar that uses a propane cylinder for a war head. The video above was a promotional video from the Syrian army to fund building these types of munitions. It's the only one that exist aside from a few prototypes. if you watch the original video this "journalist" ripped from and understand the original language on the video it says so. The possible weapons used against the FSA and the rebels where war heads that traveled from 50 kilometer rockets.....it would take 100 or more of those mortar type cannons to be modified to kill a possible thousand people. Do some research!"
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

The Hounds Of War Are Howling Again
The hounds of war are howling again, the blood of innocent Libyans, Afghans and Iraqis still dripping from their teeth. The stench of hypocrisy chokes your nostrils as the double speak, waffle and babble fills the air. Once again America aims to lead the West in another drive-by shooting.
This time it is the people of Syria that will feel the destruction of “clinical strikes”, “precision bombing”, and because we are the good guys our “intelligent bombing” will not hurt any innocent people. These phrases are an attempt to sanitise murder, to legitimise wholesale destruction on a horrific scale, giving the arms industry something to boost their share price.
Because of our compassion for the people of Syria we are going to subject them to a 21st century Dante's inferno. You can rest assured that the “punitive strike” against Asaad will be felt by bus drivers, office workers, shop assistants, engineers and plumbers, men, women, children and old folk.
Referring to the chemical attack, Cameron's compassion is shown as veneer by his statement, that we can't stand by and see people killed like that, obviously he feels it is much better to blow them to pieces, maim them, blind them, sever limbs, traumatise them and destroy their infrastructure.
The people of Syria are suffering immeasurable horror and hardship at the moment, the last thing they need is for some foreign “super power” and its minnions, to bomb the country's infrastructure back to the stone age, while adding to the death toll of innocent men, women and children.
Ask yourself, who gains from this latest drive-by shooting? Will the fountain of freedom and democracy spring forth from the smoke of cruise missiles? Will the world be a safer place? Or will the Western corporate Mafia have a greater opportunity to exploit that part of the world?

Contact your MP and ask them to vote against military intervention. It really could make a difference
You can write to them at http://www.writetothem.com/
Allied air strikes against the Syrian government over the alleged use of chemical weapons could be delayed until next week in the face of strong opposition in the UK parliament to British involvement in immediate military action.

why don't the Americans tell us, what the answers given in the intecepted calls were ?
Paniced calls to the chemicals unit, may have led to a reply of either
"We didn't fire any" or "We made a mistake"
So why no report on what was said in repy
and Countary to News reports it seems, it was NOT AMERICAN spooks who listened in
They were intercepted by 'UNIT 8200' of the Israeli Defence Forces, and they passed a report on to the Americans
Yes, the same People who passed on most of the Info about Iraqi WMDs, that led to the last Gulf War

Barack Obama warned that the use of chemical weapons in Syria would be crossing a ‘red line’, and prompt US intervention. A week ago that line was crossed – but are we armed with all the facts about the atrocity in Ghouta? GUY ADAMS examines the evidence...
HOW THE WORLD HEARD THE NEWS
It started as another night of heavy shelling for the beleaguered residents of what remains of Ghouta, a swathe of suburbs to the east of Damascus which is currently under the control of the rebel Free Syrian Army.
Then, at around 3am on the morning of August 21st, a stream of highly-distressed civilians began arriving at local hospitals. Many of the men, women, and children were foaming at the mouth, and shaking uncontrollably. Their eyes were glazed, and their pupils contracted. Most panicked as they struggled to breathe.

General Cordingley, who led the Desert Rats during the liberation of Kuwait, said: ‘There is a danger Assad will retaliate against us. More widely, yet again people in the Arab world will say the West is dropping more bombs on the Middle East.
'It might not heighten the threat of terrorism at home, but it certainly will do nothing to reduce it.’
Syrian prime minister Wael al-Halqi responded to the threat of military intervention by warning his war-torn country would become a ‘graveyard of the invaders’.
And a Syrian army officer has claimed Assad could use kamikaze pilots to combat Western forces.
The unnamed officer told the Guardian that, in the event of an attack by the US and Britain, the Syrian army had 8,000 ‘suicide martyrs’ who would give their lives to bring down warplanes.
‘I myself am ready to blow myself up against US aircraft carriers to stop them attacking Syria and its people,’ he said.

Fulfilling the legal requirements looks very dodgy to me. There is no evidence of large scale risk or there being no alternatives.
Dave just wants a war for political reasons. We have learned nothing from Libya, Egypt, Afghanistan and Iraq.
You may not need the UN to authorise, but you need the British public behind you which they don't have, even if it was found that Assad committed the crimes and not the rebels. Yet Britain need to offer humanitarian help, but it's up to the Arab nations to carry out military action if the UN deems it.
Can someone please explain how raining cruise missiles on Syria, can in any way be described as ''Humanitarian Relief''? Iraq housed women and children at what they knew would be favoured targets. (look at what you are dealing with). An attack from the West wont work.
It's strange that they have no qualms about bypassing the UN in such an important matter and yet claim we cannot bypass Brussels regarding all the immigrants flocking here to live off the British taxpayers.
