Hi - My 1st posting here, (from the states), so please be gentle... Too many here are wearing their masks on their chins instead of their faces. It seems that some of them delight in doing this. I think they are trumpers mostly. Does the UK chin require mask protection? I don't think the state's chins are particularly vunerable to "chin" ailments either. Here, there are so many ignorant folks that refuse to wear a mask or understand why they should do so. A lot of this stems from the orange faced guy that was in the white house, but people should have better sense. How is it there?

People do it here too, it's so stupid it really bugs me "look, I have a face mask but I'm not going to cover my mouth with it, I'll use it to keep my chin warm" GRRRR!

Hi - Thank you for your response. I was hoping it was just here that this nonsense went on. Sad that it is there also.

Was it really necessary to trash Mr Trump to get your point across?
04-07-2021 4:14 PM
Hi - Perhaps you are correct. I should not try to trash anyone. Yet he is, in many people's opinions, indirectly responsible for multiple deaths (thousands & thousands), in this country. This is from his anti-mask stance where he refused to wear one & encouraged others not to wear one, & from his "super spreader" campaign events & parties he threw. Sorry.

History will show that Mr Trump was quite correct. He was not responsible for the death of anyone. You do not need to say sorry to me....but you could say sorry to Mr Trump. The abuse that he has endured is beyond belief.

I wear a mask on my chin ready to be pulled up in order to enter a supermarket. No mask, no shopping.
Masks will not stop you catching a virus that can enter the body through the eyes, or indeed, through gaps in the mask or the material they are made from. This is regardless of how much you might dislike Trump. Biden won't help either. He looks lost at the best of times.
A mask with 99% filtration should be worn every time you leave your home. I doubt many mask wearers do that.
When cold, a mask on the chin keeps it nice and warm. In summer, a mask worn over mouth and nose, causes sweaty suffocation.
It used to be a free world.

It should be a matter of personal choice whether to wear a mask on the face, on the head, on the chin or not at all.
I will wear a mask if I enter a shop or go on a bus, but I refuse to wear one while outdoors. Thats just silly.
Anyone who worries bout this sort of thing might want to consider whether they should be out at all. And this is from someone who is classed as extrememly vulnerable.

Superspreader, that sounds serious. What about the rest of politicians telling people to stay home while licking a married woman's face and what about the BBQ they recently had?
The only superspreader thing I know is Lidl's cheap version of Nutella. If not in the fridge it becomes quite runny.
Best I have seen so far is in a friend's cafe, he is forced to tell people to wear a mask when in the queue only for the thing to be removed in order to consume the product they just purchased. People supping a cuppa and eating their food inches away from the masked queue. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Not one of the workers in any of the supermarkets I shop in have caught anything , none look particulary fit, many never even wash their face once, never mind disinfect their hands every time they touch something.
Me, I am OCD and wash all items before putting them away in the fridge or cupboard. It's my choice.

Hi - I like the nutella reference. What is the "fluffo" that so many there keep referring to? Curious me ....

The disposable type of masks are a menace. They are thrown away without a thought of where they will end up or what damage they'll do before they get there. The elastic sides are a danger to wildlife, and wildlife experts are finding marine and land animals with the damn things entwined around their legs, beaks etc. At best they go into the much-overworked landfill, at worst they end up in the sea.
Whenever I visit my local hospital there is a bio hazard bin for patients to drop their used masks into and I presume they will be incinerated. If this disease is so dangerous shouldn't all masks be treated this way? Not dropped in car parks and roadways?
And another thing. How clean are these masks? where do people store them when not being worn, and how often are they washed? I've seen them shoved into pockets and pulled out again, and pushed into glove compartments. It's my belief that they probably spread more germs than they stop.

No idea what fluffo is, maybe pastry? Nutella is obviously the gold standard for nut spread, the Lidl one is considerably cheaper but can make one cough if eaten at night. Flavour is pretty comparable, though.
I am not sure whether it provides any protection against whatever, but I prefer it to peanut butter. Tried the stuff once, my tongue felt like it had feathers on it. I was 10 at the time, it scarred me.

I see kids eating food with their dirty hands all the time, meanwhile the parents are wearing a used masked sideways across their face. I have no doubt the virus exists, I know people who have had it and were badly affected, but it's definitely not the biogical disaster we are lead to believe.

Hi - The Lidi's cheap version sounds rather nasty. Yes, you are correct that many things related to this pandemic don't seem to make good sense.... I still wonder about the elusive "fluffo" however.

I Googled it and apparently Fluffo is a vegetable shortening, but you only get it in the US. Is this what you mean?

Fluffo, much like the pandemic, might have to remain a mystery till we have disclosure.
With regards to Lidl's neo-Nutella, I might have undersold it. It's not that bad and I still consume it. If you have such establishment close to you, I suggest you give their Nutella a try.

Hi - In the roundtable listings, close to the top, is one entitled, "Gifs, pics, & graphics." They have some really funny pics, etc. It is in there that I found so many "fluffo" references. Also a lot of mention of "giffers." So I am not sure, but thank you much for your help & interest in my particular "fluffo" dilemma.

Hi - I may have to try it now, after the fluffo mystery is solved, if it ever is.

Just thought I'd throw in a couple of things to your debate.
I understand the French destroyed 80million masks recently because they were produced containing dangerous chemicals and could cause health issues.
I also heard a while ago that the Danish did a study which proved they were no use whatsoever ever?!
From my own point of view I will wear them under protest but don't have to as I get asthma - but find the sunflower brigade equally as ridiculous - obviously I'm not going to catch anything from them! Let's face it you can't catch covid in a restaurant when you sit down, only when you stand up! Football fans were unlikely to catch covid, but parents at their child's sports day could so they were not allowed in! I could continue...
But I now eagerly await the next press headlines some years on - saying 'Covid masks could have damaged our health'
