I've been racking my brain, to recognise the business model on which the EU was & is based.  It's definitely based on another famous organisation, which is on the tip of my tongue.......Mmmmm  lets see.

1. Once in, it is very difficult to leave; if not impossible.

2. A convoluted web of various business activities, rules and regulations is created ( by the organisation ) to make you dependent on them and complicit with all their activities.

3. If you leave, you are no longer allowed to trade with others within the organisation, unless you pay money.

4. If you leave, the organisation will try ( through intimidation or pressure ) to prevent you from trading with others; outside of the organisation ( by using their muscle and bargaining power ).

5. The organisation will expect a cut of all your future profits, levied by means of charges.

6. Criticism of the organisation will result in penalties.

See, now I'm sure you recognise the tell tale signs; if only I could recall...........YES !!........GOT IT !!..........It's the:

So as the EU &  others put forward the problems facing the UK during and after Brexit, in our financial dealings with the EU

The Brexiteers are saying,

'we all knew they'd be problems, only a fool would have thought otherwise'

Well that's funny because,  We all remember, the leading Brexiteers telling us, before & right after the referendum

'European Countries will come crawling on their hands & knees to do deals with Us'

OH YES THEY DID

There was that much said, before and after the referendum, that I must have missed that bit; but I'll take your word for it. I never really thought along those lines myself though, being only too well aware of how the EU club ( mafia ) works; I was expecting trade within their ranks to be seriously curtailed. I just know there's a big wide world out there and all the greatest emerging economies, aren't in the EU. If dealing with us means a lot less bureaucracy and jumping through hoops, than dealing with the EU brotherhood, then most countries will do a deal with us first......it would be cheaper and less hassle. However, for those that need a cuddle and somebody to scare away the boogie men; best they stick with what they know best, the EU..........they'll continue to wipe their bottoms for them, tell them when it's bedtime and tuck them in; with a suitable story.

Yes but we haven't left yet, when we do will the EU want to see the UK economy booming? No of course not why would they want others to follow us? I don't entirely disagree with Brexit but with the Germans and the French already sharing out the spoils it may not be as simple as you believe.

The socialist experiment known as the EU is on it's last legs.

Italy is going to take out the eurozone and with the political changes sweeping through Germany and France It's not a case of if but more a case of when the EU will cease to exist.

So far it's not happening at all.  All this silence makes me suspect that they're trying to work out how to get round the Leave vote while making it look like we are leaving.

Am also getting fed up with hearing the Scottish Nationalists trying to get around the vote and use it to their own advantage.

Hawd yir wheesht - Scotland will never ever be anything else but SNP -Thig Al Latha! Why shouldn't they get round it,we never voted for it!

English tories or marxist labour will never ever hold power in Scotland- get used to it.

As soon as the Act of Union is ripped up the better- full of bigoted, racist literature that in this day and age is a disgrace. You should read it sometime.

You don't have to get around it....you need to get over it. We are leaving the EU..and that includes Scotland. Once we are out, if Scotland wants Independence then ,then they can vote on it. And if you ever get to be independent, then you can re-apply to join the miserable failing EU on your own terms. You will need to be propped up by someone..you sure as hell won't manage on your own. The majority of Scots know that...and will never vote for independence, in spite of Ms Bravetart continually banging on about it.

Another thing......have you Scots no pride? You want to shake off the 'racist, bigoted'  shackles of Westminster, but you don't mind having to kow tow to the pompous self-serving shackles of Brussels, and having to kneel to them with your little begging bowls held out?  I am SO prouud to be Welsh...we voted to tell them where to shove their measly handouts. We have pride.

I have no interest in reading the Act of Union.  It's five hundred years old and most likely amended and superseded during that time to the point of irrelevance.  It's written in an out of date and incomprehensible form of English, as useless these days as whatever that dialect is you use in your post.

Join the rest of us in the 21st century.  You are still part of the UK and bound by the referendum result as much as the remoaners are.

Quite frankly I for one wish the Scots would hurry up and ''bigger off'' - they can follow the 'two fish' down whatever route they want!

If you want an unelected, badly poised, stumbling idiot as a leader and wish to paint your asses blue that's fine!

As the fish said back at the referendum - they would run their economy on the revenues from oil - best of luck! Never mind, maybe Jimmy Choo will set up a shop North of the Border to boost the economy!

If the Scots go then perhaps we can retrieve the BBC and stop reporting on what the Scots loosely call football on our sports news! We could then spend more time reporting on 1st and 2nd division sides who have more fans and certainly more ability than most Scottish Premier teams... and there's a contradiction in terms!

Oh and can we also stop talking about that idiot Sir (Sniggers) Andy Murray - who has taken the meaning of 'boring' to new heights!

Here, here.  Unfortunately they wouldn't just go and set up a border along the wall again.  They would then want all sorts of "concessions" so they can carry on as they have become accustomed to doing.  They might even demand bits of England because they "conquered" some area centuries ago in some border war long forgotten by everyone except themselves.

Effectively a return to their traditional main source of income.  Looting and pillaging the English taxpayer.

Not quite sure why there is so much fuss about all of this? The Scots have an obsession with Independence - let them have it!

They appear to have influenced Government elections in this country for far too long and look at the carp we're in because of it!

Take a leaf out of Trump's book and build a wall ! - or rebuild the old one!

Oh and by the way they can keep their whisky as well - Irish is far superior!!!!

Steve McCauley in the Guardian came up with a solution.

England and Wales could leave the UK which would automatically terminate their membership of the EU - Scotland and NI would remain in the UK and retain membership of the EU.

This would solve the problem of the Eire/NI border continuing to allow free movement of people and trade.

English and Welsh people could be offered dual nationality with the UK of Scotland and NI giving them free movement within the EU without requiring a reciprocal arrangement with the EU.  At the same time citizens of the UK of Scotland and NI could be granted right of residence in England and Wales.

Because England and Wales would not be members of the EU they would be free to negotiate trade agreements with the EU without the constraints of Article 50.

Totally impractical of course but more well thought out than some of the tripe I've read on here.

Only one problem with that Creeks....we Welsh don't want to leave the U.K. We believe in the UNITED Kingdom. Oh yes....we have the equivalent of Scotland's idiots, continually banging on about independence, but ours are not so loud. They know full well that the majority are quite happy being part of the United Kingdom. The drive for devolution has been pushed and prodded and fed byBrussels, because they know that if we are divided we are easier to control.

I agree with just about everything you have said Astro, Celtic the boyo's  remarks reflect those of typical cybernats who seek to inflame opinions and incite hatred among people who have far more in common than they wish to see. Wherever and whenever one is confronted by such attitudes it invariably ends in Violence, I suspect there are many Cybernats who would love to stick a knife in an English person just because they are Englsh but increasingly and as was the case in Northern Ireland they would willingly do it to anyone who disagrees with them including the majority of Scots! Why must we as a society always have to put up with their bile and general behaviour I do not know however it is a testimony to our system that we do, Perhaps they ought to live and work in Syria, Zimbabwe, Russia or North Korea and see what it is like to disagree in any of those countries before they try to dismantle a union which serves us so well and has done so in good times and bad.

I don't know what Celtic's motives are Archie...it seems to me that he's just a big fan of the Sturgeon, hanging on every word she spouts. A sort of Kilt-wearing Mel Gibson, woad painted type of guy, who has never forgiven England for events of hundreds of years ago. It has been quite plain to me for decades that the push for devolution came from Brussels. That's why they targeted the poorer areas of the UK with their 'grants'....or should we call them bribes? Well...it didn't work in Wales. Ireland is in so much trouble that they will never want to let go of Nanny Brussels pinny strings, and I suspect Scotland is much the same. Well....if they want to stick with Nanny, let them. Celtic doesn't offend me...he is entitled to his opinion. And time will tell if we get a decent Brexit or not.

Archie, I think you are taking this a little too far - while I agree in principal to your comments about Celtic's what can only be described as 'irrational hatred of the English and the overwhelming desire to escape our evil clutches' - to suggest that a large number of Scots who voted for Independence would stick a knife in you if you disagreed with them is, I think, a little over the top.

I well remember Scotland beating England at Wembley in the late seventies (1-2 I think) and then invading the pitch to take back the goalposts - very tribal. That year they overwhelmed my local in the Midlands the night before, on their way to the game - fully kilted, with accompanying dirks and sporans. I always wondered how they were going to get into a football match with their little knives???

Why do Scots show such passion about their Nationality and need to carry dirks in their socks - somewhat tribal and very prehistoric in mentality - I suppose it may be explained if you paint your bum blue!

Oh and by the way I'm Welsh and I too am Nationalistic - but thankfully not Neolithic!
