About the BBC news site:

It appears to me that it is no longer possible to email news stories from the site, and that one must use one of the so-called "social media" venues to send stories.  Is that the way it is?  I found it a little hard to belive for about 7 seconds, but then, the stupidity and hubris of bureaucrats should never be underestimated, so maybe that really is the case.  Maybe it's my browser.......

Any one.......?

Re: About the BBC news site:

Thank you.  I am aware of that option.  My question is whether or not emailing directly from the page has been removed as an option, by BBC.  On just about every other news site on the planet, it is an option, and was on the BBC site until recently, as near as I can tell.

Yeah, I had a feeling it was still actually possible to 🙂

Re: About the BBC news site:

Well then, where's the link, please?  Under 'share this page,' the menu opens up with all the farcebook etc. links, but I see no email link.  There certainly was one until a few weeks ago.

Re: About the BBC news site:

Pardon me butting in but the link you posted was to subscribe to email news????

"To subscribe to our email news, simply send us your email address.

You will receive emails from the BBC alerting you to major breaking news stories."

There's no Black envelope or "Share this page".

The only Black "thing" is the "Send" button to send your email address.

Re: About the BBC news site:

Right.  That is not the button to email a story.

So, I guess they got rid of it, deciding that email is passe, and anti-social media is so trendy that and right-thinking person would use it.

Only a government department would make such a disgustingly stupid decision.

Re: About the BBC news site:

It's still there for me - on all stories except the missing aeroplane one.

It'll be a glitch.  A wotsit rather than a conspiracy.

Re: About the BBC news site:

That is strange in itself, duck: being on some storues not not others.  I tried it on two separate browsers on two separate computers, with no luck.  I also sent BBC a love note before starting this thread.

Thanks.

Well excuse me for trying to be helpful! Smiley LOL

I KNOW it's subscribe to email news but the black envelope on MY page in MY browser "Shares this page" works, as it does for all other stories that are shareable. Not all stories can be shared if the black email icon isn't there... so, I'm guessing based on the OP's reply he's got a problem with his browser.
