Cameron defends '£10m' bill for funeral ceremony and attacks Alastair Campbell's claim that he is using Baroness Thatcher's death for political gain

David Cameron last night defended his decision to spend millions on Baroness Thatcher's funeral - and dismissed extraordinary Labour claims he was using her death for political gain.

In a series of media interviews the Prime Minister said it was right to mark Lady Thatcher's death with 'some fanfare' given her huge achievements.

Mr Cameron did not dispute reports that the funeral could cost as much as £10million, but said it paled into insignificance compared to what she had contributed to Britain.

Well bank,you never know 🙂 ,maybe her inheritance tax bill makes 10 mill pale into insignificance...or is she exempt ,probably 

Apparently margaret (she got us a EU rebate,you know?) thatchers £6 million London property is registered offshore, if the will names her children Mark and Carol as the beneficiaries they will avoid paying 40% inheritance tax which saves a sum of £2.4million

Can anybody explain in plain English just WHY there is a cost of £10,000,000 being paid for the funeral? What I mean to say is, why is an extra £10,000,000 being paid over and above the normal wages of the blokes doing security? As far as I can see, no extra equipment needed to be bought. The guys doing the security were already employed by either the Police or the MoD so what was the money for?
