Cameron defends '£10m' bill for funeral ceremony and attacks Alastair Campbell's claim that he is using Baroness Thatcher's death for political gain


 


 


David Cameron last night defended his decision to spend millions on Baroness Thatcher's funeral - and dismissed extraordinary Labour claims he was using her death for political gain.


In a series of media interviews the Prime Minister said it was right to mark Lady Thatcher's death with 'some fanfare' given her huge achievements.


Mr Cameron did not dispute reports that the funeral could cost as much as £10million, but said it paled into insignificance compared to what she had contributed to Britain.
