eBay system errors expose seller

Sold heavy sheet metal **bleep** for £155. Buyer paid through eBay and collected next day. A few days later just by chance I noticed that eBay had cancelled the sale and refunded the full payment amount to the buyer and charge my account for the refund.  I contacted the buyer who ackowledged that he had collected and also sent me a copy of a message from ebay stating that due to a system error the sale had been cancelled.  How on earth do eBay consider it appropriate that as a result of their faulty system, they can charge my account for an item that has been collected and not send me any notification whatsoever.  Whilst eBay are now investigating as a result of my contact, this has really affected by confidence in the ebay system.
