eBay not working with my Huwawei P30 phones running andriod 10 or build number (EMUI) 12.0. *HELP*

Hi there, eBay community;

I have a Huawei P30 phone as well as the Lite version which runs with the latest version of itself being EMUI 12 or android 10 / 11. Although it is EMUI 12 suggesting is it based on android 12 Huawei runs separately to android 12, so the latest version is actually based on android 10 / 11. Nonetheless, even though the phone is clearly compatible with the eBay app due to the fact that the latest update stating it is only not compatible with android 9 and below, for some reason the eBay app on my phone is not allowing me to use it without a Google account / Play store account even though I have the correct updates version / compatibility.

To be clear I don't want to remain signed in on a Google account or Play Store account as it was working perfect before this update that I didn't need to remain signed in on my Google account / Play store account, and it wouldn't make sense that you have to remain signed in on a Google account or Play Store account to use the eBay app as the latest version or update of eBay is compatible with my phones build number (EMUI) 12 / android version 10.

Any help / suggestions would be much appreciated as my phone is compatible with the eBay app, I don't want to be remained signed in on my Google account / Play store account as that would be ridiculous when it was working previously without being consistently signed in, both my Huawei phone and the eBay app are updated to their latest version and are compatible. When I'm signed in to my Google account / Play store account, the eBay app works fine, but once I sign out of my Google account / Play store account and use the eBay app, it keeps taking me to the Play store app even though the eBay app is fully updated and is being used on a compatible phone.

Hope to hear a credible solution from fellow eBay users or eBay technicians rather than be pushed aside and be told to be patient as I have spoken via mobile with eBay and relayed this same issue to them to which I have described above, and I was told to be patient as this issue has been risen to our technical department it will be fixed in the next 48 hours which it is not.

Make sure the app is not set to open browser links automatically, then use a browser to reach ebay.co.uk instead of the app until eBay fixes the issue or you decide to sign in to Google.

Thank you for responding, the eBay app on this device is not set to open browser links automatically, I can use eBay via Firefox or Google Chrome, but previously before I updated the app eBay was running smoothly without myself being signed in 24/7 to my Google account / Play Store account and I would sign in to update the app and sign out as eBay could and had always run without being signed in 24/7. I could understand if my device (Huawei P30) was android 9 or lower which would then require someone to be signed in to their Google / Play Store account 24/7, but this device as well other devices running android 10 should be allowed to use eBay without being signed in 24/7.

Is it the case now that across the board, all devices using eBay app must be signed in to their Google / Play Store account to use eBay app (which would be ridiculous in my opinion) no matter their android version being 9 and below or 10 and above? Does that mean people who have older phones that run android 9 and lower cannot use the eBay app at all (which from a business perspective would be unintelligent as you would want to make the app as accessible as possible for customers to purchase products from your website / app) and essentially makes the app unusable forcing people to upgrade to use the app, but even if they do upgrade they still have to be remained sign in on their Google / Play store account to use the eBay app?

These are the questions that need answering as to be honest I am aware that some apps may require you to be signed in 24/7 to use the app such as GMAIL, but with eBay it is not the case (unless you're using your Google account to sign in as a eBay account) as the account I'm using is a eBay account which means you don't necessarily need to stay signed in on your Google account to use the eBay app as its to your own preference.

Hopefully this reply brings further clarity to the matter and a resolution is reached sooner rather than later as this matter needs to be resolved if this issue is across the board or if it's not an issue and that the eBay app now is completely reliant on individuals being consentiently and constantly signed in on their Google / Play Store account which wouldn't be logical, viable and completely unnecessary as the eBay app was working fine before the update where you didn't have to constantly be remained sign in on your Google / Play Store account.

If you have questions about the app, you should probably ask eBay directly.

You should be able to report app issues to eBay when signed in to the app by shaking your device.

I have spoken with eBay, and they have suggested that this is an issue that needs to be resolved. The eBay personnel I spoke with on the phone stated that what I have mentioned is credible, but they have not seen a large influx of people having this same issue, but they are a few. I was told this issue has been risen to the respective board and the matter should be resolved within 48 hours. It has been some weeks since that call and the issue is still as prevalent. I have spoken with eBay after the fact and still I am being told the same suggestions and after trying the suggested solution over the phone again to which I told the operator I have done previously, but did them again to be cordial and respectful I was told again this matter will be risen and made aware and was told I will be contacted with an update within 48 hours to which I have heard nothing since.

For those interested in this topic present and future, unfortunately eBay still have not solved this issue of mine as described above. To be clear, as It goes without saying that no, you do not need to be continuously signed in to your Google account to use the eBay app, even if you used your Google account to sign up for or link to your eBay account. You can sign in to the eBay app using your email or username, or through other linked accounts like Facebook or Apple, if you've previously linked them. While using "Sign in with Google" provides a convenient, passwordless way to access eBay, it's not a requirement to remain logged into your Google account to use your eBay account on the eBay app

Here's why:

• Different Account Systems: eBay and Google accounts are separate. 

• "Sign in with Google" is Optional: You can choose to sign in to the eBay app using your email/username, or other linked accounts if you've set those up. 
• "Stay signed in" is a user preference: Whether you remain logged into your Google account for other services is independent of your eBay account's login status

To conclude once again that when I click the eBay app it takes me to the Play Store to sign in to my Google account to which I proceed to do. The eBay app is fully updated as of today and fully operational when I am signed in to my Google account using the eBay app but once I log out of my Google account eBay becomes nonoperational, and it forces you to sign in to your Google account once again. Please note that this issue is persistent in many devices not just mine owned by friends and families and the issue remains persistent, unsolved and becoming a major hindrance to personal user preference even though all devices are running the correct android / IOS version of android 10 & IOS 17.0. Hopefully this issue is seen and resolved by eBay member of staff & I would be surprised if it is the case that now you have to be currently sign in to your Google account 24/7 if you wish to use the eBay app.
