Have not been able to send a message to one particular member this afternoon after she purchased from me - I get the eBay response 'message failed'. It's an important message because she's asked me to let her know the cost in the future if she bought in bulk with other items. All other messages to other members go through ok
Any ideas?

Sounds like bots picked up on a possible outside of Ebay deal ?.

That's what I thought so I eventually just tried sending 'thank you' (that's all) and it still failed
Surely the bots which pick up (wrongly in this case) a suggestion of outsider dealings don't then block ALL future messages between the 2 parties? For ever?

Have you tried to send a message using their contact info on the order details page (right hand side - may need to click on the Show Contact Info link). Using this email ought to also go through the same bots/relay but may give an another error/clue. Failing that the contact info may include a mobile number and you might send a text message in a last resort.

I sell custom items and as ebay have never really sorted a proper system for ordering often when the buyer order a few different one the custom wording only partially comes through.
On top of this now when I try to contact certain buyers the message fails and I am fed up with it.
EBAY can you sort it our because your help bot does not even understand what problem I am trying to
resolve. It is making customer service look like rubbish.

I sympathise, especially about the bots, but I'm only a user like most on this forum. There is a Wednesday Community Chat with the support team tomorrow between 2pm-3pm https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Chat-with-the-eBay-Community/bd-p/WeeklyChatwiththeCommunityteam
It might be worth raising it there if you get the opportunity.
