eBay loading slowly - especially images

All fine until about a week ago. I'm using Brave browser on Arch Linux. Images from sellers are only loading the first few, if any at all. In fact, the entire eBay website is slow and laggy.

I know the usual advice is to empty the cache. I won't be doing this as trying three different browsers: Chromium, Qutebrowser and Nyxt all result in the same issue.

You'll have to forgive my ignorance as I'm not a very techie person. Please do keep any response simple.. if possible 🙂

Thanks Honeymonster007 - an Aston Martin driving Honey Monster 🙂 - YouTube plays without fault and zero hiccups. Speed is great there. Therefore assuming download speeds are good enough.

I'm not expecting you to do all the homework I should probably be doing myself. I usually do RTFM (man & info). Just wandered if anyone else was having the same issues. If not... testing time!

Are you using an ad blocker? If so, try temporarily disabling it to see if that makes a difference.

If that does not help, any difference if you use a private or incognito browser window?

Only the built in adblocker with Brave. Chromium, Qutebrowser and Nyxt were installed 'pure' just to test eBay. Same slowness for eBay, yet YouTube plays at full speed.

But yes, good idea to try private/Incognito.

Okay, have tried on three other browsers, all fresh installs without any ad blockers. It takes about two minutes for all the images on an eBay selling page to load. It'll open with one or two images immediately, but the rest take time. Even opening this 'Technical Issue' web page took about 45 seconds.

As I said, I can watch a 30 minute YouTube video at the same time as trying to open eBay pages, and there is no stuttering in the video whatsoever. Other web pages open just fine too.

I'll figure it out, as I don't expect everyone to do my homework for me. As mentioned earlier, I was just wondering if it was only me. Looks like it is 😞

I've just run the speedtest you suggested. Results are:

DOWNLOAD Mbps 1.10
UPLOAD Mbps 17.34

Maybe worth checking to see if your ISP is having any probs at the min.

Might be worth trying a router reset as well but it will change your passwords to the factory defaults if you try it. Best to have a google first on your router model.

Actually, I'm connecting - as I have done for the last five years - my laptop through my mobile phone hotspot. Everything works fine except eBay. To repeat, I can be watching a YouTube video with perfect replay... yet at the same time an eBay seller page will take two minutes to fully load with pictures. Even with no video playing, it makes no difference.

Whatever... I'll give Three Network a ring Monday.

I'm connecting - as I have done for the last five years - my laptop through my mobile phone hotspot.

Any difference if you reboot your mobile phone? Perhaps your hotspot connection is the weak link in your network.

Thanks. Turns out it's the Three Network 4G connection in my area. I still don't understand why YouTube videos play at full speed without stuttering, yet images on eBay hardly load at all. That was my confusion and probably my ignorance on display. I'm now in another area and everything is fine.

Hotspot tethering is the future. I'd never have a landline again... but then I don't watch streaming services.

Anyway, I'll call this solved.

Thanks yet again. Flaky Three Network 4G was the issue. Now been over a week. Other geographical locations are fine.
