I have tried over and over to send a guy selling a WW1 whistle some info to show him that his whistle is in fact a modern reproduction. I typed some basics and linked to him to a site that goes over the signs of how to date a J Hudson whistle. I hit send and the message vanished. So I typed it all again. Same thing. I took the link out and instead pasted text from the site with details of what marks mean what and it still fails. I tried chrome web browser with a fresh login instead of firefox and same issue. I even gave super vague info and included 2 screenshots of the information he needs to see and still fails. I just see a blue "i" which suggests eBay wants to tell me something but there's nothing in the box......
I am sick of trying and I have no idea what is wrong, why the message is not sending.

Maybe he has blocked messages
Maybe he knows its repro and doesn't care....

Not the case. I have had this instant message disappearance right upon hitting send to another seller before who I have a good relationship with and have bought before. I was unable to communicate so I had to message him via text message instead. This is not a blocking issue. This is a glitch in case of the message disappearing after hitting send ( which is infuriating after I spent time writing and re-reading and editing before hitting send ) and in the case of this blue i thing, clearly a bug because there is no message about what that even means.

Try triple-clicking in that (i) information box, in case eBay's infallible systems are displaying grey text on a grey background... if there's anything there it will then be highlighted.

I just tried it now and nothing happens.

"i" is for information, not an error code. Possibly the "Don't exchange contact details to Buy or sell outside of eBay…" notification.
It's likely 1 of 3 things:
1) the content of the message. Try something simple like "test" first and see if that goes through. (The lack of text on the "i" section means it's probably something technical though.)
2) an ad blocker or other browser extension. Seen as how you've tried in another browser, it's unlikely, but still possible. Try disabling some extensions.
3) a technical issue on eBay's end. Quite likely, especially if 1 & 2 are ruled out. If so, you need to contact support. Good luck getting any response from technical help though, at least anytime soon!
Usually if you are blocked the message seems to go through fine (you don't know you've been blocked) but the recipient never sees it. I don't know if they've changed this on the new messaging system though.
Have you tried switching back to the old messaging system ("Switch back to classic view")?

I have not, but from what you have said it is likely the system thinking I am sharing contact info perhaps or something. I was just trying to help the guy not end up with an angry buyer who gives him a negative feedback when they find out it's a repdocution and they paid a price you might pick up a genuine 1916 one for.

Thinking more about it. I suppose if you are blocked, then the message may fail without any notification. You could try sending the same message to me. If that works, then being blocked by that user must be the answer.

FYI (anyone that reads this topic)...
The OP messaged me and our tests were successful. So it looks like he was blocked from contacting the seller. Though we’re not sure if by the seller themselves, or by triggering something within eBay. So, as typical, it seems eBay are useless in explaining exactly what the problem is, even with an automated feature!

Having the exact same problem, stupid grey box, stupid blue i circle thing, no amount of clicking, sending "test" messages, disabling ad blockers, changing browsers etc works.
What a rubbish system!

"I took the link out and instead pasted text from the site with details of what marks mean what and it still fails."
The text pasted directly from the site probably contains some coding (possibly html) which is not allowed in messages. Try pasting the text into a simple text file first then re-copying from there before pasting into the message box.

Even Plain Text won't work for me! Oh well, good job my buyer included a phone number on his order!

I'm having the same issue right now, after I've just spent £70 on a purchase i cannot message the seller i just get a blank error message the same as you. i am worried, i am quite new to ebay, just starting to get the hang of things and now this happenes. the seller only had one review too.
