Research products - broken?

Any one know if the Research Products tool is broken, again?
Cant see items sold in the last 72 hours or so - keeps giving a "We couldn't find any Sold results in the date range you've selected, so we've switched to Active listings." error.

Re: Research products - broken?

Sigh, yes. It's been doing all kinds of crazy for a week now (and for several weeks on and off). Not showing most recent sold items, ordering (most recent, oldest) not working, choosing specific dates doesn't show the right dates when looking at the search results, "our server didn't respond" and "no sale" errors, on and on and on.

I've reported it three times now, nothing. Maybe you (and others) can also try and report it, that might jolt them into action. Really frustrating.

Yes, the thing is, surely we're not the only ones to report this?

Re: Research products - broken?

It's quite perplexing. A product they purchased for millions, integrated into ebay and breaks regularly. Just this year I think I've found it unusable at least half a dozen times.

I used to be a Terapeak subscriber before eBay bought it - can't remember them ever having regular days/weeks long problems like these.

Maybe it's just a handful of people who use so it doesn't take priority in being fixed. It's really odd.

Re: Research products - broken?

I find it bizarre that 1 - it constantly breaks and 2 - how few people complain that its down, which makes me believe that its a low tier part of the system which no one uses, apart from a few people and eBay CS really dont know how to resolve any issues.  I've reported it to CS but I'll bring it up this afternoon in the Community Chat *ahem... that'll sort it*

haha 😀 - baffling if they bought a company that wasn't hugely important to their service/offering.

I'm in IT and it's also weird how this research page breaks - why would ordering not work? Even if some sales were missing, due to a technical problem, how does the ordering go from ascending/descending working to "I'm going to show you random dates" as you click page to page. How does changing from ascending to descending change which date it shows on page 1? How does changing the date range for the same search term show a different result on page1?  Just bananas.

Re: Research products - broken?

Is it? Here is page 1 and page 2 of sold items, searching for "iphone", in order of "Date last sold" (i.e. most recent sales) - page 1 has sales for the 18th of June, so far so good. Page 2 has sales for... 12th of June. Oh.

Research as far as I can tell... collapsed in and around the early hours of the 13th, ironically

The thing is I've clicked back and forth between pages to see what happens. Sometimes the most recent date shown is the 12th. Sometimes the 14th. Occasionally the most recent date. But as you move forward and backwards between the pages it might show the next set of sales from the same date, or a date 3-5 days in the past. Click some more, back to the most recent sales. Change the drop down to a different date range, everything changes again.

Re: Research products - broken?

So still nothing on the 18th as shown in this image. The error is "We couldn't find any Sold results in the date range you've selected, so we've switched to Active listings."

Right, but if you select 7 or 30 days in the drop down instead and click the Date row to go switch between ascending and descending, you *might* be lucky and see some June 18 sales 😜

Re: Research products - broken?

Nope. Barchart stops very short on the 13th, the graph straightens out on the 13th if you view the graph, not the barchart

Re: Research products - broken?

Raised the issue with the Community Team Chat this afternoon, and dave@ebay said

"We don't have any update on this at the moment, but we will post one the thread you created for this when we have something to share.

Thanks,

Dave"

Re: Research products - broken?

Hmmmm, I don't think so - I get it starting with the 18th sales and then after about 7 pages in it reverts to the 12th of June sales. Maybe we won't be getting 13th-17th sales?

It would seem that data is missing, but yesterday seems ok in as much as you can trust the data
