I can't open any messages on desktop in chrome. It is acting very odd.
Nothing happens when I click a message to open. I can tick the box to mark as read etc. but the message doesn't open when clicked but if I mash random messages, multiple reading panels open up on the right but don't work and don't relate to the messages clicked.
Solved! Go to Solution.

I see this (clearing cache & cookies) as a common solution to various problems, being reluctant to try it because of the hassle it causes, I just waited it out and messaging is back to normal today. Thank you 🙂

Some users seem to be seeing a red slash-in-a-circle icon when selecting messages using a desktop browser. Messages may or may not load when selected.
If messages still do not load at all, try clearing cache and cookies only on eBay by clicking on the lock icon to the left of the address bar in your browser. You will need to sign back in to eBay at that point, but messages should load again.

If you erase all your browser cookies you will need to sign back in to any accounts that use cookies to keep track of session information. I do not recommend that for an issue with just one site.
But if you erase just your eBay cookies and no others, you only have to sign back in to eBay.
