seller threatening 'Legal Notice'

So i sold a pink PlayStation 2 (Console Only) to a buyer which i believe to have been working.Buyer receives and has the item a number of days before opening a request to return (Claims the item is faulty). I tried to help the buyer as much as i could by offering to replace the item as i have 2 (including the one which i sold) but the buyer wasn't happy. Buyer states that after trying 20 discs the machine damaged all 20 discs and now wants to be compensated outwith eBay to the tune of £47. Buyers already left negative feedback and in the mean time stated that they will be sending a 'Legal Notice' back with the console and that the police have been informed and issued a Crime Reference Number (whether or not this is true i don't know) and to top it off i will be contacted by his/her lawyer within the next 2-12 weeks.

 

1. I live in Scotland so rules might be different than the rest of the UK.

2. i have at least 2 messages a day calling me childish and other derogatory comments 

 

what do i do?

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ask him why he put all those discs in just to get damaged.

looking at feedback left for others it seems to be a common occurence. leaves negative comments and feedback and guilts you into giving him/her more cash in return for positive feedback. have been given an email to send money too.

the first thing i have to ask of this buyer, is what clown puts a disc in a playstation, that ruins say 3 discs, but then carries on and puts another 17 in, seriously!
i think their trying it on, so tell them you will be happy to refund in full upon return of the item and you don`t do partial refunds, which is`nt going to fix the issue, if there is one. Point out as well, that before postage, you did in fact make a note of the serial number and water marked the item as well, so you expect back what you sent.
i`d also give ebay a ring and try and get the neg removed, pointing them to your messages as backup.

@knight-rider already have done this. eBay want me to follow up once item arrives back! Then go about process of getting negative removed!
