ebay has approved the return of an item without contacting me first.

ebay has approved the return of an item.  The buyer says that parts are missing and it is rubbish.

It was for three cross stitch kits, all the missing items and defects were clearly listed in the description.

I think it is unfair for ebay to approve the return without asking me first and I think it is unfair that I should have to refund

because I did not deceive, my description was honest and clear.  It would appear that the buyer did not read all the details

and I don't think that is my fault.

I did try to go into the seller dashboard to appeal the decision I got so far but couldn't find the exact part to click to appeal.

I clicked to email ebay but it keeps sending me back to search the problems.

Please can someone advise me.

Thank you

Looking at all the brand new items you have listed you seem to be selling as a business and that gives your buyers very good returns cover

When you're notified that a buyer has opened a case under eBay's money back guarantee, that's their way of "asking" you.

There is usually no point in disputing the case - you would only be penalised for doing so. EBay's policy is to support the buyer unless they can determine that the item matched the description. As they never even see it, and take the buyer's word against the seller's, it's almost a foregone conclusion that the seller will be required to make a refund.

About the only choice you have is whether to send a prepaid return label to get the item back. If you didn't do that, the buyer gets to keep the item and the refund.

This is the reality of selling on eBay today. Whether it's fair is immaterial - we've all accepted eBay's policies in the user agreement.

If you stated "returns accepted" in the listing Ebay will not ask you to accept, the returns process is automated so it will auto accept.

Sounds as if you ignored a case...

ebay do not approve a return unless a buyer escalates on day 9 of the case..

you had 8 days to reply to the case...as it was a not as described case, you should have sent the buyer a prepsid returns label

pointless trying to appeal...I expect you have a defect slapped on your account too.

it would have been better to name the parts that were missing as the buyer would have been unable to see from any photos what parts were missing
