buyer has opened an item not received case too late to make a claim against Parcelforce.

A buyer has opened a legitimate item not received case but over 3 weeks after the due delivery date  - Parcel Force 48. The item seems to have been lost in the post as the tracking number gives no information other than the item is on its way ( which it clearly isn't ). The problem for me is that if I give the buyer the refund he is entitled to I will be unable to make a compensation claim against Parcel Force because the buyers late notification means I am outside the 30 day limit for making claims.  Any thoughts?

3 weeks isn't 30 days, so why do you think you are out of time to make a claim from Parcel Force?
