Will I be charged ebay fees if I cancel unpaid item?

Hope someone can help me to understand my options. I am not an experienced seller so learning something new with every sale.

Buyer bought Buy It Now item from me but has not paid for it (did not know it was possible). Item is quite high value for me £280, buyer has no feedback and is located in China. Naturally, it felt like red flags coming up for a scam. Listing is only for UK delivery, do not ship internationally.

I have contacted buyer and advised that I do not offer international delivery. He responded after a day asking to cancel the order as he did not realise that. Item is still not paid for.

Questions: shall I cancel this order? If yes, will I be subject to ebay fees? Will this buyer be able to leave me feedback?

Thank you.

Saying posts to UK only does not stop overseas bids, BUT without the appropriate postage for the Country they cannot pay. You need togo trough and Block all parts of the worldyou don't post to, although why you think it is difficult selling overseas, the majority of buyers are good.

I have been a member for 18 years and apart from the Countries I deliberately Block , must have sold to most others

An unpaid route is the best way to recover the selling fee as NO feedback can be left. Cancelling, and an annoyed buyer could leave a Negative.

"but has not paid for it (did not know it was possible)" If you had investigated the various links on the pages, for example MORE ACTIONS you would see among the options is "I have not been paid". No one can force a buyer to pay, but they can get an Unpaid Strike.  It also gets your selling fee rfunded.

Again, in your ACCOUNT you can set "Buyer Requirements" to block bidders with 2 or more unpaid strikes.

All these links are there for a purpose and the more you look the more you will learn.

Non payers are a pain, and in addition to the Block above, you should also add them to your Blocked Bidders List and any other members who give problems.

You open an Unpaid Item case, and close it as 'unpaid' 4 full days later, to get the selling fee credited back to your Ebay account. The buyer will be blocked from leaving feedback. You'll then be free to relist, but add the non-payer's Ebay ID to your Blocked Bidders List first.

Everything you need to know about selling on Ebay, including what to do when a buyer doesn't or can't pay, or if you want to block certain types of buyers from bidding, is in the Seller Centre (link at foot of any page).

@zakaijte

the fees were charged as soon as the listing ended

you need to complete a non payment case to get your fees refunded

48 hours after the sale go to the Resolution Centre and open a non payment case,

wait 4 days then go back and close it
