By being registered on the UK site, you're subject to UK laws, which now include the collection of VAT on imports of less than £135 at POS (Point Of Sale).  I'm not sure why you think that is 'stupid'...?

As far as I'm aware, the only way to deal with this is by closing your UK account, and then registering on ebay.com (which is where you should have registered in the first place).  But contact Ebay CS to see if you can change your country of registration on this account (I don't know if that's possible or not).  Live Chat and request-a-callback are available in Help & Contact during working hours.

I would also advise you to contact HMRC and the Bulgarian tax authorities - they are the people to ask for full and accurate advice and information.

Comment @cyriliano  > USA registered account ... As advised,  likely that by using the UK site to list, you are subject to the UK site rules on VAT due on sales to the EU.

The VAT issue is still unclear but should be resolved by using a EU site or ebay.com  for listings ... Useful if you could confirm that the added VAT issue is then no longer appearing ??.
