I am dealing with numismatic items for a good couple of years with an immaculate account.
All of a sudden , my account looks like is being targeted , and Genuine Items are being removed because '' Your listing didn't follow our Replica coins and currency policy. '
I have raised my concern to the customer service support agent , their response was :
Here is what you can do, If you think that this coins are not replica, I would request you to please get the authentication certificate from one of the below coin grading services.
These are eBay-approved grading companies.American Numismatic Association Certification Service (ANACS) Independent Coin Graders (ICG) Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) Paper Money Guaranty (PMG)Once you have the authenticity certificate from above grading companies, you can relist the item with the certificate.
I am sorry, but we are a policy team, and I can assure you that eBay has list of approved grading services, we accept only those grading companies' authenticity certificate.
I can surely understand your disappointment, however I would request you to please not to relist these coins again on eBay.
99% percent of the coins listed on ebay are ungraded , all those listings are at risk then?
For the ones of you who don't know, grading services are quite pricey , at least £20 per coin plus postage back and forth from the grading companies , and simply not worth doing so . Plus , there is only a tiny category of collectors collecting graded coins.
For instanace , who would grade a £5 value coin for reselling porposes , just to please ebay and provide them a certificate ? Offered myself to provide invoices for all of my purchases straight from the Mints and refused to accept as proof.
Either way , is someone in here able to clarify this to me ? Based on what or who's judgement genuine listings are being ended with temporary restrictions placed on my account ?
It is simply impossible to deal with their customer service assistants which has no expertise into this matter and offering answers based on scripts only .
Thank you !
