I sold a dvd for £3.70 incl postage and was charged 87p fees using the new Ebay payment management service. This equates to 23.5% !     I was led to believe that using ebay payment service rather than Paypal management service would be more profitable. Can anyone tell me how much i would have received if i had stuck with Paypal and is there a way to switch back to Paypal payment managements ? Thank you.

I am not on managed payments yet and find it impossible to get full details of fees.

I understand that in addition to the selling fee of 10% ebay take 30p plus a % similar to what paypal charged. 

Even working on the limited information I have I can only make up charges of 77p. Do you not get a proper accounting on a statement of how it is calculated? For low value items the fixed fee of 30p is the killer.

This is what I have been trying to find out...I had eBay call me back and even their customer service could not give me a breakdown of the 87p charge...her reason for not being able to do so was quote "you're monthly statement has not been processed yet so I cannot check what you have been why you have been charged 87p". I said well obviously you must know what percentage final value fee is but she was unable to enlighten me as to how it came to 87p.
DVD sold for £1.70 postage was £2.00 = £3.70 Fee was 87p leaving £2.83 of which of course my postage fee came off leaving 83p profit.
Just received my statement and all it says is fee 87p......no idea how they came to that ? Anyone ? But it does work out at 23.5% off of £3.70 !

The fees for private seller are 12.8%+30p and as john says on low value items the 30p is the killer.
Tobias has shown what the fees are for Managed Payments-77p
On Paypal you would have paid 2.9%+30p=41+eBay final fee of 37p totalling 78p so you are actually 1p better off(you must be ecstatic by now).
It appears to be more as eBay take it all in one go where as before PayPal took their fee on payment and eBay invoiced later.

@61stephenuk Well to add to the confusion i have now sold 5 more dvds and on not one of these 5 sales have i been charged 20% on top of the final value fee as i was on my sale mentioned above and was told by eBay rep Maricar. So it appears that it was a mistake and that i have been given a wrong explanation. Last 5 sales has worked out at 12.8% + 0.30p
Ebay owes me 10p and a proper explanation as to what went wrong. I have been told i will receive an email from their taxation team within the next 48 hours.

Well the plot thickens.....having had fees return to normal (12.8% + 0.30p) on several items which sold for over £5....i have now sold another dvd for £3.20 and have been charged 0.79p instead of 0.70p ! Ebay customer services again saying vat but cannot explain why the Ebay management fees page says vat is inclusive and why it has not been added to the other items i have sold(because it is inclusive !). Been told they will call me back....was told last week they would email me..still waiting.

Finally eBay has said there was a technical problem and they have issued me a refund of 23p which they actually paid into my bank account. My advice is to check your seller fees add up.
