I refunded a buyer who put in a refund request due to a not received item, they received item

A buyer put in a not received claim yesterday and I refunded him.

Today they have received and signed for the item and it is shown via the Royal Mail app.

I posted the item Tuesday morning 16/02/21 at 10.08am at my local post office, paying for 1st class recorded large letter delivery via eBay.

I have now lost out on £20.50, what should I do.

Please can someone help me, many thanks.

You should have waited..you could prove the item was delivered so the scam buyer would not have received a penny if they opened a not received case

I would try messaging the buyer and ask if they would send payment for the item to you as the item has now been delivered.

In future never issue a refund until the buyer has opened a item not received case, this will give you time to contact the carrier to see if there is a problem with delivery.

You were too keen to issue a refund and will have a problem if the buyer does not send payment.
