Ebay refused but PayPal refund to the buyer

The buyer opened a claim but Ebay found on my favour. The buyer then went to PayPal for help, they refund to the buyer. How can I get my Ebay's payment fee back?

I always get confused in cases like this.

The sale was conducted on ebay.

The payment was made using eBay checkout which is linked to PayPal.

Pay Pal only process the payment on behalf of eBay.

They are classed as a third party.

So how can PayPal issue a refund if the seller has had a case opened against him by a purchaser and the auction website has decided in the seller's favour.

What information have PayPal been given in respect of this dispute.

Surely Communication between eBay and the buyer and seller are covered under data protection laws

To say that eBay and PayPal are not linked as companies just does not seem true.

You can't get the Ebay selling fee credited back to your Ebay account, as the buyer was refunded through a PayPal case, not an Ebay case. Ebay and PayPal are separate companies.

Ebay generally only close a case in the seller's favour when the case is an Item Not Received case and the seller has tracking proving delivery. Is that what happened...?

If so, then PayPal would have closed the case in your favour too - unless you failed to upload tracking to the case, or tracking proved delivery to an address other than that on the PayPal payment confirmation emailCould the latter be what happened...?

If so, Ebay missed it, hence the buyer going to PayPal, who do check these things more thoroughly. To retain seller protection, items must be shipped to the address provided by PayPal on the PayPal payment confirmation email. You must never ship to the address on the Ebay order confirmation email (this is the buyer's Ebay-registered address, and not necessarily where they want the item to be sent) or any other address the buyer may supply after payment has been made.

It would have been of interest to have details of what the case was all about as it might have given a clue as to why Paypal allowed a refund after ebay had not.

It is most unusual for Ebay to find in favour of a buyer.

You can't. EBay's interest in the matter ended when they found in your favour.

It has nothing to do with eBay if Paypal found in your buyer's favour.

It's a bit unusual for PP to support a buyer after eBay has found in the seller's favour, but it can happen.
