Hi there im relatively new to Ebay selling and have sold around 8 products so far.
I belived Ebay charge a 36p fee for listing an item and then charge a 10% final value fee for when it sells.
I am selling an item for £16.99 with free postage. A few of them have sold so far
When I look at my account summary however and look at my balance it charges me £2.46 for each one which sells?
Please can someone explain how they got this figure.
Many thanks.
Yes it's a - LOT MORE - than 10%
As a business seller in the jewellery catagory I pay 11% on all sales + 2.2% to Ebay for a non refundable VAT charge,on top of that making it 13.2% on every sale.
Then if I charge p&p costs it's anothwer 13.2% of that as well.
Then there is a 36p listing fee every single time.
And don't forget on top of all that Paypal take another 3.4% on every sale + a 30p fee just to get money ( It's more if the sale goes overseas by at least another 1%).
So that is at least 16.6% overall +36p + 30p + p&p on top.
In reality I now look at "Losing " or paying around 20% overall on every sale.
Jus remember to factor all those costs into your starting price to cover it all, as otherwise like many have found to their peril it will in realtiy cost you for the privelidge of selling something.
