Buyer requested refund for item which didn't arrive. I refunded, item arrived, have request repaymen

I sold an item, the buyer requested refund as item had not arrived after alotted time, (not surprising with Royal Mail having problems).

I refunded buyer. I contacted buyer to asked whether the item had been received before I put a claim in to Royal Mail, the buyer replied saying the item had arrived. I again contacted the buyer asking them to repay and giving them my paypal details. I have not heard anything back from the buyer, what can I do. I am now out of pocket for the price of the item and postage and as the item has been received by the buyer I cannot make a claim to Royal Mail.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is a common situation. With buyers able to open a case just one day after the estimated delivery date, and sellers now allowed just three days to respond, it can only get worse as delays mount in the Christmas post.

When a buyer claims a refund for non-delivery, and then keeps the item as well when it arrives, eBay does nothing to support the seller. Even when there is postal tracking proof that it was has been delivered.
