I've just sold an electronic item on ebay, a ps vita.
I wrapped it up perfectly, there's no possible way this thing was scratched in transit, not possible.
He's sent me a picture of the vita's screen all cracked and is blaming me.
I don't know what to do here because ebay in my opinion is the absolute worst place to sell yet it's the only one so broadly available.
Am I **bleep**ed here? have i lost £100
Items do get damaged in transit. And a cracked screen is quite different to a scratched one. Something heavy landing on the package could easily have caused the screen to crack.
So when you get the item back and have refunded the buyer through the opened case or return request, lodge a claim for damage in transit with the carrier. As long as you bought the correct service, one that fully covers the value of the item, and the item is not on the carrier's 'exclusion' list (not everything is insurable), the carrier should fully compensate you.
