Bank charge back

Hello, I had a eBay case that the buyer said they never received the item this case was opened many months after the delivery. I showed proof of postage and never heard back from the buyer again. eBay closed the case. They have now asked their bank for a charge back and this was approved via PayPal. Does the eBay agreement not allow a buyer to do this as there are terms and conditions to the sale.

Yes a Bank Chargeback can be raised by the Buyer up to 12 months through PayPal. You need to provide PayPal with your Proof of Postage.

I gave PayPal my proof of postage and the bank approved in their favour and gave the money back to to buyer plus added £15 in charges?

Did you Post to the Address sent to you on the PayPal Confirmation Email? The £15.00 is PayPal 's Processing Fee!

Yes it was posted to the confirmed address. Both on eBay and PayPal

i thought it was proof of delivery required Ruby, not postage, because if this was the case, tracking would`nt be needed.

Yes it was not proof of delivery as it was advertised as 2nd class only. However I had proof of postage postcode and house number.

well, as far as i`m aware, proof of postage is and never has been sufficient on ebay or paypal, it needs to be proof of delivery, because as i said, if proof of postage was enough, we would`nt need to post anything tracked. Whether this is the case with bank chargebacks, i`m not sure, but given it`s paypal who allowed the refund, i`m guessing they have`nt accepted your `proof of postage`.

I was under the impression, for sellers to win a case, eBay required Proof of Delivery and Paypal only required Proof of Postage providing the item was sent to the address provided by Paypal.
