simple delivery

I have been changed over to simple delivery ,and I was concerned because I don't have a printer or smart phone ,but it was so easy without ,there is a 6 digit figure under the QR code for EVRI ,so i took my parcel down to parcel shop and on their printing machine gave the option of either scanning a QR code or putting the 6 digit code in manually which I did and it immediatly printed the label immediately which I stuck on the parcel and took parcel to the service counter ,our evri is in tesco express .They no longer give you a receipt for your parcel instead they ask for your email address and your name ,and when you then get home and look at ebay it has the tracking number there ready . Our post office do simple delivery parcels but they need to scan a  QR code ,they said they can use the 6 digit code ,but it takes a long time ,they probably have to put in the buyers full address .  So I am really happy now to use simple delivery as it is so easy .I wrote the 6 digit code on the parcel ready before I left home

Re: simple delivery

Well this is a breath of fresh air to read this post , and hopefully a help to many others,  showing you do not have to have a smart phone or printer,  just a helpful,  knowledgeable Post Office.

Good to hear !  🤗

Re: simple delivery

Brilliant post, not sure where everyone has been... I have done this also for a month or so, no printer and no smart phone here also..

Steps.

1.   Download the QR code from the item order page... it will go to your download folder on laptop.

2.  Write the 6 character code on the parcel.  it will be something like ZBV4YY  Numbers or Letters or a mix of the two.  Also write the postcode of the buyer on the parcel, (this will help if you have several parcels)

3.  Go to Evri shop, there will be a blue machine with a screen, press the "tap to begin" on the screen (bottom right on ours)

4.  Tap on "I Want to Print a Label, (here its the upper bigger white panel on the screen)

5.  Select Enter Code Manually, an on screen keyboard will appear

6.  Now tap in the code off your parcel in the 6 boxes on that screen, the one relating to the QR Code "ZBV4YY" in this example.

7. Press ok and the label will magically appear from the machine with name address of the buyer.. Hey Presto,

8. Now stick the label on your parcel.

9.  Take the parcel to the counter and the staff will take a screenshot of the label, and ask for your name and email, this will trigger a electronic receipt to be sent to that email...and your done.

Been doing this for a couple of months...   Hope this helps.

You dont need a printer or smartphone or any gadget to use the above method and it works well.

The QR Code when entered into the machine is linked to the buyers address over the evri network and populates the address fields etc by just you entering in the 6 figure QR code.

Regards Charlie

I think most of the people complaining about Simple Delivery have not actually used it.

I am 68, 20+ years on Ebay, don't especially like change.

I can't say I am a cheerleader for Simple Delivery, but I have used it.  It was OK.  There weren't any problems.  There was no drama.

Let's hope all the sellers who are 'throwing their toys out of the pram' over SD don't start to regret it, especially if they close their accounts and lose all their hard won feedback.

Reading this makes me so angry.  How the *bleep bleep bleep* is that SIMPLER than writing the name & address on the packet and handing it in to the Post Office.  What on earth are people thinking, if they think this is SIMPLE.  I'm just glad that I don't need to sell on ebay so badly that I don't need to fall for this utter nonsense that is supposed to be SIMPLE Delivery.

Well, firstly, this post was about Evri SD - you have never been able to write labels for Evri.

We just print the label at home and take it to the Evri drop off shop - job done in about 5 minutes. Even if we didn't have a printer, it would still be easier/quicker for me to write down the number of a code and take it to the drop off shop for them to print the label (maybe take us up to 10 minutes), than it would be for my arthriticy  (SP?) fingers to write the address, get in the car and take it to the delivery office (20-30 mins).

After using it for a few months I have found SD actually IS more 'simple' for me. But then there will be those who always prefer Heinz baked beans to Aldi value ones, so it would be good to have a choice with SD in the same way we can choose which beans we want.

Re: simple delivery

Nobody adding to this thread said the new system was simpler.

I use Royal Mail.

For me, it's a straightforward process.

Click 'get label'.

Print label.

Stick it on the parcel.

Take it to the Post Office and hand it over.

I don't have to write on the parcel.

I don't have to add tracking.

I don't have to mark as sent.

So, some steps are different and some steps are done for me.

And, if you detest this 'utter nonsense' so much to the point where you are clearly infuriated, why have you still got live listings?  Nobody has to sell on Ebay after all, it is a choice.

"Nobody adding to this thread said the new system was simpler."

I never said they did.

I should add that I'm not angry with the person who posted that message, and apologies to that person if it comes across that way.   If it works for them, fair enough.  I'm angry with ebay for trying to have us believe that SD is simple and my post was to make the point that there is nothing more simple than getting a pen and writing the name & address on the packet.  You don't even need to buy a stock of labels.

"And, if you detest this 'utter nonsense' so much to the point where you are clearly infuriated, why have you still got live listings? Nobody has to sell on Ebay after all, it is a choice."

Indeed it's my choice.  I've chosen to keep two listings which are excluded from SD. and the others currently don't have SD applied.

Re: simple delivery

And you don't have to even have a printer or smart phone ,just take the 6 digit code to the evri parcel drop off shop and type it into the label printing machine ,the post office said they can do the same if you give them the code over the counter but it will take longer ,A few post offices have got label printing machines like evri so you can use them your self but not all .Our post office is a stones throw from the evri parcel drop off shop so they probably won't be getting a printing machine anytime soon ,so that is probably why their post office is mostly empty these days, as before simple delivery was introduced we used to have to queue for 20 mins or more to be severed now we go in and the place is empty and the evri sacks in the tesco express are full .

Another good thing is our tesco express is open every day until 10pm so we can go there later in the day to send parcels if an order comes in later in the day even on a saturday and sunday ,

Re: simple delivery

I have not bought a stock of labels.

Why do you think that is necessary?

It isn't.

Re: simple delivery

I don't think this thread is about categories that are excluded from SD.

Why are you making that point?

I have used Simple Delivery.  (Item numbers available if requested.)  It was fine, in my view.

Some of my current listings - albeit a small proportion - are listed with SD.

I have an opinion which I chose to express.

Re: simple delivery

And my sales are picking up really well since I was changed to SD .I have kept both postal options open i.e royal mail and Evri but Evri is going to be better by far .

Re: simple delivery

Just typing the code into the Evri label machine is easy - until the label machine malfunctions or runs out of labels.  Then you've got to find another Evri parcel shop.

I used to drop my parcels off at the Tesco Express.  Fortunately, I print the labels - because the machine was frequently out of action.

Re: simple delivery

Well said ,like we say there is no need for a printer ,or smart phone ,no need for inks or paper  just a 6 figure code ,and the buyer pays for the postage in advance so there is no need to pay anything at the evri shop or Post office ,just a few seconds on the label printing machine and the label is there ready to be stuck on your parcel .
