Well after 14 years with ebay it is time to move on ,things have changed not for the better .They allow buyers to buy your brand new items riun them and then ask for a refund after a month and ebay say they can't determine that the damage was caused by the buyer ? A brand new dress never warn the buyer wore it washed it even told me they had washed it ,and sent it back screwed up in a bag not in the  box that I sent it in . The buyers fee protects the buyer no matter what so sellers will be scammed now more than ever .So I have joined another platform that has 80,000  users and is still growing  and there are no silly fees .  Sales have been rubbish since christmas which is the same for alot of sellers , so it is better to go where you know you are wanted .

Problem is, there is no protection from a buyer who is setting out to scam you by wearing a garment and then returning it in a different condition, no matter what platform you sell on unless it's one that just accepts payments in cash or bank transfer.

Hopefully you reported your buyer for returning an item in a different state, but to be honest if you have an eBay message in which the buyer admits wearing and washing the dress you should never have lost your money, in your shoes I would've insisted that eBay read the messages which would confirm that the buyer was not in a position to use eBay's Money Back Guarantee/Buyer Protection to get a refund.
