One of the joys of Brexit, no more free trade.

There isn't anything you can do here, there will be import VAT payable for buyers outside the UK and, tedious though it is, they often don't collect their items or arrange redelivery.

How are you paying for the postage/shipping?

If the order value is less than €150 (~£131.00 currently) eBay should collect and remit the VAT at the point of sale. Eire VAT is 23% so your buyer should not have needed to pay VAT on import - did you use stamps?

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Did you include the VAT number? I received a couple of items from the UK where the seller forgot to include the VAT number and was charged VAT although I had paid it on eBay.

Which VAT number? eBay's (GB) VAT number does not affect EU VAT liability - the UK's and the EU's VAT regimes are now disparate. When eBay charges and remits EU VAT it is reported via the EU's IOSS system. If the item is being sent by Royal Mail the address label should show the IOSS logo to indicate EU VAT has been charged and remitted.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Phil

Both have been problematic for me recently. The solution I have found is to attach a copy of the Ebay order details, which shows the tax having been collected, in a Customs Documents plastic bag usually used for Commercial invoices etc to the outside of the envelope.

It took several months for rejected Spanish items to arrive back. It seems they sit on them for a month or two before sending them back.
