more buyers on auctions not paying ? non payment

while it used to be quite rare for me  - maybe 1 buyer every 3 or 4 months did not pay for his item when they won the auction . 

however i have noticed a sharp increase with 3 not paying last month and 5 already this month and it is only the 11 th yet . 3 of them have been re listed with the other 2 being at 4 days and waiting .

i have blocked people that have non payments before but i just wonder how it is looking for other sellers , it is quite noticeable with such an increase for me . even when buyers are send a reminder they don't seem to respond . out of the 8 from the last weeks only one responded after a week to ask where the item was and i had to point out it was never paid for .

I would not say I have seen an increase in non payments exactly, more I have seen an increase in cancellations, which amounts to the same thing but means they don't get a non payment hit. (I found someone the other day with 176 cancelations to his name in the last twelve months. Really wish Ebay would stamp down on this.)

My gut feeling is about one in ten of my auctions end in non payment or cancellation. I just live with it.

By the way, do you realise that when you send out reminders it resets the four day clock for when you can give them a non payment hit? Conventional wisdom seems to be not to send reminders as Ebay do it automatically anyway.

i tend to send it after 2 or 3 days depending , i'm not that greedy for money but i am for free space in my stock room .

Yeh and an increase in obvious shill bidders who manipulate the price between their 10 accounts. Its just becoming less and less profitable on here. The promoted shops i took the free offer but its horrible. Offsite as well. PPC is too high. All money down the drain. Just gonna lower my prices and not use any promotions i think. Being top rated seller has 0 benefits these days unless u ship immediately with an expensive service. 10% off the fees? (off the fee you're due, not the actual fees or it might be worth it) dont stretch yourself ebay.
