Once a Classified ad goes live, as you have found out, no amendments, nothing can be added. The listing fee is payable as soon as the listing goes live, and it's non refundable even if you end it in a few minutes. Charged listing fees again, when relisting.
However, it's worth a try, to contact eBay Customer Services explain the error made and noticed in minutes so the listing was cancelled to be relisted with the correct description. They may, no guarantee of course, refund you the first set of listing fees, it's worth a shot.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays
9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.
Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.
It's sometimes worth when the lines first open at 8 a.m. on weekdays, contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.
