ebay is becoming just a extension of aliexpress or temu

Has anyone else noticed ebay has /is becoming a extension of aliexpress and temu ?

lots of sellers on here are drop shipping from them now. I have been caught out by this a few times now, I can buy from aliexpress or temu myself and get it cheaper.

I bought some telescope lenses (x4) I ordered on ebay, the seller said the items were in london, when I got them they had "aliexpress" on the top of the label, I could of saved nearly £20.00 if I bought them from aliexpress myself.

I just received a "Neca" Frankenstein monster model, as I have had many problems before with sellers not packing correctly (items getting damaged in the post) and items being sent from china even though it says they are in the uk somewhere, I send messages to the seller and ask questions before buying to be sure.

The seller said on the items page it was in london, I sent them a message asking about packing (as a collector the items box it just as important as the item itself).

They replied saying they understand as they are collectors themselves, and it will be packed well.

I received it today, it was packed in ribbed bubble wrap, this does not protect a item from being crushed, and guess what, it was crushed and has to be returned (I have had to return far too many items now).

And guess where it was from, you got it, aliexpress, the same bag, colour tape and ribbed bubble wrap (aliexpress pack items a certain way, if you have used them in the past you get to recognise how they pack things), and it had a chinese label under the address label with my address.

All the above has happened far too many times now.

The point I am trying to make is it seems pointless buying from ebay for a lot of items, you cant go by where the seller says the item is anymore, you cannot trust what the seller says when you ask questions as they just say what they need to say to sell you the item.  you may as well just buy from aliexpress or temu yourself and save some money.

Warning, out of those two chinese companys temu has a far better refund system than aliexpress, aliexpress refund system is a nightmare for lost parcels and damages items, you will be lucky if you get your money back, so only use for cheap items.  I suppose thats where ebay scores full marks, on its refund system.

I spoke to a ebay chat representative about this a while ago, he said companys must have stock in the uk, what i think is happening is sellers are saying they do have stock in the uk, but they are selling say 50 items, but only have 10 items in the uk, everything else is shipped from aliexpress or temu.

As you can see by this LONG message, I have had enough.

(I just tried to post this message, but it seems now you need to "add a label" before you can post, there is a "Issue with buyers" label, but NOT a "Issus with sellers" label, or anything I could use typical. so I just used the "seller hub" label)

Sellers are not permitted to list stock they (or their fulfilment centre) don't have, and buy an item from a site such as Temu or Aliexpress and have it sent to the buyer. If they're doing this, you can report them.

eBay's drop shipping policy states:

Listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay.

Yes it is becoming a huge part of most categories, it is sad to see.

Fakes are also getting very convincing, often made in the same factory as the real thing. It must be very difficult for eBay to hold back the sheer wave.

I had thought surely buyers will see the bigger picture of the damage it is doing but on the whole it doesn’t appear that they care as long as they can save money.

Caveat emptor is more relevant now than ever.

Yes I know, and you say that, but this is what I just got back from ebay :

"Thanks again for reporting the listing(s) you found.

What happened:
We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence "

I did also send ebay a picture of the postage label, it said at the top of the label "From AE - CN"

I also explained about aliexpress packaging and how I recognise it and sent a photo,  so just a waste of time informing them.

ebay don't care as they're still making money from it.
