I only use the app to check things, while I am out and about. I wouldn't dream of using it to conduct transactions.
From dozens of posts on here, and my own experience with buyers who are using the app, it seems to be very limited in what it can actually do.
For example, buyers can not request a combined postage invoice for multiple purchases on the app. Also, the app seems to discourage buyers from reading descriptions, etc., by putting these on another page, and allowing buyers to purchase without having visited that page. This seems to result in many disputes which would not have arisen had the buyer simply read the description.

eBay's a bit of a Frankenstein system, added to and tweaked over the years, but was never an app like the newer selling sites are, so most features can't be accessed. The eBay app has limited functionality which is fine for basic viewing and buying (I'd never use it for managing a selling account).
As recommended by @61stephenuk I would download the app and use the code, see if you like it, if you don't then simply uninstall it.
