Hi.
I sold an item but had to refund the buyer as I found out that the item was not working anymore. The refund came out of my account on the 11th Oct for £207.99.
Today I looked on my banking app and it says another upcoming payment to eBay Sarl for £207.99 is due on the 18th October!
I have setup a call to eBay just this minute. I am thinking of cancelling the direct debit as I don't have enough money to cover this erroneous payment.
Solved! Go to Solution.

I think you'll probably find that it won't be taken. It's just your bank second guessing it because they made that payment last week.
Because you've got a direct debit set up and that was used to fund the refund, your bank then "thinks" that it's going to be a regular payment so it predicts that you'll be paying it each week because that's very often how a direct debit works. I've had exactly the same show up on my banking app in that situation. When it doesn't go out this week, it should stop predicting it for following week.

Hi.
I think you are spot on! I rang eBay and there was no payment going out their end. And getting in touch with anyone on the fintech banking app is impossible so I was left trying to sort it out talking to AI. In the end I cancelled it just in case. But yes you are right, it is the bank thinking it's a regular payment. Scared the life out of me!
