eBay selling policies

Let me start this off by saying I have been on eBay for 15 years so I have literally seen it all, this new selling thing and buyer protection and the way we get paid is an absolute joke, All this is to do is to force sellers to use expensive postal services and virtually ship the same day, having to wait a week for your payments is insane, and now this morning I have to add my NI number because of the tax board, I had no choice as I had money in my account on pending that I would not be able to get for items I have sold.

As soon as I have got that money I will be closing my seller account, I am very disappointed in this, I only sell items I own, so I have already paid tax on them when I purchased them and now they want me to pay tax on them when I sell them well no chance, I already make a huge loss on them when I sell them, then I have to deal with Royal Mail failing to deliver or simply just stealing my items as Happened to me this week and I had to refund the buyers, Another guy brought something, made me wait a week for a case resolution which I won for what purpose? just to waste my time. I am not a business I sell things I own but looks like I am going to be forced into changing to a business account because eBay has to comply with this disgusting government!! 😡

Honestly just bring back sellers fees and get rid of this disgusting cash grab of buyer protection, simple delivery and all the other awful things they have added this year.

Note, You can select custom delivery on your listings so you don't have to use simple delivery and you can also go to your seller dashboard and postage options and remove it.

What a sorry state this country is in.

1. It's not the UK govt's idea. It's an international thing.

Try looking up 'digital sales reporting OECD'..........I can't be bothered to explain this anymore to people who think anything they don't like is the British govt's fault 🙄

2.  No , they don't. You can sell any amount of your own personal possessions without any tax liability at all .(unless you sell a single item for over £6000.00 then you're in Capital Gains territory. But who's brave enough to do that on ebay ? 😱)

Couldn't agree more, I am going the same way.

Surprised you managed to use custom delivery as I am now forced to for my new listings - its a joke.

Re: eBay selling policies

Basically I sell old stuff, mostly tech, so when i upgrade i sell the old, this is phones, laptops, motherboards, consoles, graphics cards etc, expensive things yes but i am not a business, and i think the most expensive thing i sold was like 1200 quid

Thing is i don't like the buyer protection thing it forces you to list for less than you want to sell for, and its confusing, and then simple delivery, but mostly having to wait a week for the money as usually i make a big loss and i need that money to purchase new item

Thanks for the correction about who is doing this, but lets just call it big corp

This morning i had to add my ni number, i guess now i will see what happens. If i have to change to a business yes i will not be happy but ill do it, but as i said above i sell what i own, and usually at a massive loss.
